If the display of your Indesit washing machine shows error F13, you need to try to decipher the meaning of the fault code. The problem is hidden in the temperature sensor.
The Indesit CMA electromechanical model expresses an error by lighting the “Wash Delay” – “Super Wash” – “Extra Rinse” indicators.
Let’s try to understand in more detail what this means.
Decryption of the code and signs of breakage
When the Indesit washing machine gives an error F 13, this means that there is no signal from the temperature sensor, which is in the drying mode. A sign of such a malfunction is that the machine stops drying clothes after washing.
How can I fix the error code and solve the problem myself?
What to do to check the F13 error yourself
Before proceeding with decisive action, we recommend that you restart the Indesit washer and remove the error. The system may have hung. Unplug the machine for 20 minutes, then plug it back in.
If you could not reset the F 13 error, and the code is displayed on the display again, try other methods.
To check the temperature sensor at home, it is better to remove it first. There are 3 types of temperature sensor, so it can be located in different places.
thermistor
- Open the back panel of the SMA.
- Carefully disconnect wires and contacts.
- Slightly unscrew the screw holding the heating element.
- Remove the thermistor.
Gas-filled thermostat
- Remove the back and front panels of the machine.
- On the back of the tank body there is an outlet with wires.
- Disconnect the wires, remove the insulation.
- Remove the seal around the copper tube.
- Press on the sensor, remove it through the hole in the tank.
Most often, in gas-filled types, a copper tube breaks through which freon passes.
Bimetal temperature sensor
The bimetallic temperature sensor is removed similarly to the gas-filled one. The cause of the failure could be the wear of the plate. Disconnect all wires and proceed with the test before correcting and replacing the part.
What needs to be done to check:
- Measure the resistance with a multimeter (temperature 20°/6000 ohms).
- To do this, connect the tester to the temperature sensor and lower the sensor into hot water.
- If everything is in order, the resistance will decrease.
A defective part cannot be repaired and must be replaced immediately. Purchase a new thermal sensor and install it in the Indesit washing machine in reverse order.
A careful approach will help you figure out the problem yourself, avoiding a long inspection and expensive repair of the Indesit washing machine.
