Error F09 in Ariston washing machines, how to fix

Electronic models of Ariston and Hotpoint-Ariston washing machines show F09 errors on the display. On electromechanical CMs, the indicators on the front panel light up.

With a fault code F09, the “Delay Timer” and “Extra Rinse” lights flash, which means a failure (error) of the PROM memory.

How to fix the error

Error code F 09 in Ariston CM is displayed on the display in case of malfunctions with the electronic controller or in case of memory failure in the microcircuit.

It is not always possible to remove the error on your own, so let’s start with simple steps:

  • A system failure can be fixed by rebooting the washer. To remove the error, turn off the machine from the network for 15-20 minutes. If after connecting the fault code is on again, try other actions.

Before you start repairing the controller, you need to make sure that it is malfunctioning. To do this, run an autotest – system diagnostics to check the functions of the washing machine.

Typical malfunctions and self-repair

Washing machine won’t turn on or off

  1. Check the connection of the mains filter S1, perhaps not enough voltage is supplied for normal operation of the washer.
  2. Inspect the power switch, the soldering on the S1 connector may be damaged.
  3. Pay attention to the body of the power switch. If it moves away from the controller board, the latter moves to the side, which prevents normal contact. Put the case back in place and secure with glue or a clamp.
  4. Check the power supply elements: fuse, stabilizer U1, filter capacitor, etc. Often, due to moisture, a similar malfunction occurs. If the steps did not help, you will have to replace the board.

SM does not execute the program

If the Ariston or Hotpoint Ariston washing machine does not execute commands, the reason may be a violation of the contacts.

  1. Remove the program selector cover.
  2. Clean the pads and contacts on the control board.
  3. Fix the cover in place with paint.
  4. Additionally, check the weight resistors with a multimeter. The indicator should be 100 ohms.
  5. If the cause of the failure is in the Flash memory of the processor, a replacement chip will be required.

The device controlled by the triac does not work

What does it mean: the motor and other elements of the Ariston machine either do not work, or voltage is constantly applied to them.

If the elements themselves are functioning normally, inspect their wiring to the control board, triacs, check the contacts. A short circuit could cause some wires to burn out, so they need to be replaced.
