Error F05 on the Indesit washing machine is displayed as a fault code on the electronic display.
The appearance of a code means a problem with draining water or a malfunction in the pump responsible for draining water.
In Indesit washing machines on electromechanical control, when error F 05 occurs, the following indicators light up:
- Super wash.
- “Extra Rinse”
Also, with the F05 code in such washing machines, the indicators flash:
- “Soak”.
- “Wring out”.

Causes and interpretation of fault codes
If you want to know what error F 05 means, the code of which is on the Indesit CMA display, it’s simple – there are only 2 problems that can cause error codes f05 or f5. These are the following breakdowns:
- Drain pump problem (in 90% of cases).
- Failure of the pressure switch (a sensor that informs the electronic module about the water level in the tank).
If the sensor is broken and the machine gives an error, then the pump is working – it pumps water from the tank, completing the drain process, only the pressure switch does not inform the electronic module that the tank is empty. The program “hangs” and shows an unfortunate error on the display.
How to find a breakdown with an F05 error and what to do with it
If F05 is displayed on the Indesit washing machine display, blockages in the entire drain mechanism must be eliminated in order to remove the error.
To check the drain, find a small hatch at the bottom of the machine, open it – you will see the filter cover. Take it out by pulling it slightly towards you.
Important! Before removing the filter, lay a rag on the floor near the machine, because water will flow from the tank if the hole is not completely clogged.
Inspect the filter, rinse it under the tap. If the filter is practically clean, there are no blockages in it, then the next step is to clean the pipe that connects the machine to the hole in the sewer and drains the waste water into it.
How to clear a clogged hose:
- Prepare a bucket (you can lower the nozzle into the sink or toilet).
- Loosen the clamp holding the pipe to the sewer branch.
- Drain the remaining water.
- Take out the filter.
- Loosen the screw securing the pump.
- Turn the car on its side.
- Find the pump at the bottom of the machine and remove it.
- Loosen the clamp at the hose inlet to the machine body.
- Remove the hose.
- Rinse under the tap.
Then carry out all the steps in reverse order, collecting all the parts in place, tightly tightening the clamps.
If there was no blockage in the pipe, and the F5 code in the Indesit machine did not appear again, do not collect everything back – check the pump as well. Disassembling and cleaning the pump may solve the problem, but it is possible to replace the pump.
After checking the drain and pump, having collected everything in place, start the machine in test mode – without linen and detergents.
Sensor check
If F 05 in CMA Indesit caught fire again, then the snag should be looked for in the pressure switch. This sensor is located under the top cover of the housing – it will not be difficult to remove it by unscrewing the mounting bolts.
On the side there is a round part from which wires and a small hose extend.
If you do not know what to do, then do not rush to replace the parts with new ones – first check the sensor if it is broken. The contacts could fail, as well as the hose through which pressure from the tank goes to the sensor.
If everything is in order, we collect the machine and idle turn on the wash. If the parts need to be replaced, we change the parts (by ourselves or with the master).
Nothing helped – what else can be done
If all of the above did not work, then resetting the error in the Indesit machine is possible only after repairing the electronic module.
