Error F04 in the Ariston washing machine – what to do

The self-diagnosis system in Ariston washing machines tells us how to identify and fix the problem. If error F04 is lit on the display of Hotpoint Ariston electronic models, this means a malfunction of the water level sensor.

Ariston electromechanical washers notify of a fault code by indicating: the “Empty tank” – “Overflow” light is on.

What does error F04 mean: how to determine the problem

To remove error F 04 and find out the cause of its occurrence, you need to perform several sequential steps:

  1. To exclude a system failure and reset the error, turn off the Ariston SM from the outlet. Turn on after fifteen minutes. If the error pops up again, read on.
  2. Check the strength of the connections between the electronic module and the pressure switch: the contacts may have come off.

The pressure switch is a device that controls the amount of water in the tank. If it is out of order, you will notice obvious signs:

  • Washer Ariston (Hotpoint Ariston) is gaining excess water.
  • The machine takes too little water.
  • The linen does not wring well.
  • A common problem is when the tank of the machine is empty, but the system considers it to be full of water. The heating element runs idle, as a result of which it can quickly burn out.
  • In the “Rinse” mode, the drain pump is turned on.

Now you know what a breakdown of the water level sensor can mean, in which the machine shows the F04 error code on the display.

Before proceeding with the repair, the pressure switch must be checked.

What to do to check and repair

In the Ariston washing machine, the pressure switch is located at the top of the side panel. To get to it, you need to open the top cover of the washer. For this:

  1. Disconnect SM Ariston from the network.
  2. Turn off the water, turn off all communications and hoses.
  3. Remove two screws and slide the top panel to the side.
  4. The location of the level sensor is shown in the photo.
  5. Remove the clamp with pliers before removing the pressure switch.
  6. Connect a small piece of hose and blow into it.
  7. The working pressure switch will emit from one to three clicks, which indicates a program switch.
  8. If nothing happens, check connections and wires.
  9. Inspect the sensor hose for clogging. Clean up if necessary to resolve the issue.

To replace the pressure switch, you must purchase a new device and install it in place. Repairs can be done independently, the main thing is to pay attention to the details.

Now, if the Ariston washing machine gives an F 04 error, you know how to fix the problem.
