Error F02, F2 in the Ariston washing machine – how to fix

The Ariston machine shows error F02, F2 on the display almost immediately after starting work. Sometimes, there is a set of water, then something clicks – and the drum, twitching, scrolls through the laundry. This code indicates problems with the tachometer.

At the initial stage, the F2 error may appear in the middle of the washing process, then when the machine is turned on.

Decoding the error

What does it mean if the Ariston washing machine gives an F02 error on the display? The reason may be a breakdown of the tachometer. Perhaps a short circuit has occurred or the contacts between the motor and the tachometer have burned out. Subsequently, the drum does not spin, fault code F2 is displayed.

Models of Ariston washing machines differ in control methods. Therefore, error F 2 is issued differently in electronic and electromechanical systems.

A model from the Ariston Margherita series with 2 indicators: the “Network” LED flashes twice with an interval of 5-15 minutes. The LED “Key” – “Lock” is on, the switch clicks, rotates clockwise.

SMA Ariston type AML, AVL, AVSL: the “Quick wash” LED flickers, the “Key” light flashes even more often.

Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine from the ARL, ARSL, ARXL, ARMXXL series: the “Program end” (END) indicator blinks, all program lights (bottom) are on.

Hotpoint-Ariston Aqualtis (AQSL): 30° temperature indicator flashes.

Knowing what the error code means, you can start troubleshooting.

Identify the problem

There are times when you can remove the F2 error without resorting to repairs. How to fix it:

  1. Restart the washer within 20 minutes to reset the error, then turn it on. If the reason is a system failure, the code will no longer appear.
  2. If a small object (coin, bra bone) is stuck between the drum and the tub, the machine will not start washing. Try to disassemble the SMA and get the item.
  3. Check the contacts between the tachometer and the control module. The connection may have dropped.

But what if the actions did not help? Pay attention to the work of SM Ariston. If the reason is in the tachogenerator, then the machine does not control the number of revolutions. Suppose, during washing, the revolutions increase sharply, while during the spin cycle they are not enough. At the exit, you get poorly wrung out laundry, because the tacho sensor controls the speed of rotation of the engine.

Self check

To check the Hall sensor, you need to get to it:

The video will help you remove the engine from the Ariston washing machine on your own:

Check with a multimeter. The resistance should be no more than 60 ohms.

There is another way:

  • Set the tester to measure voltage. Plug in a multimeter and rotate the motor by hand. If the voltage rises (0,2 V), then everything is in order.
  • Additionally, check the bolt that secures the tachogenerator. If it’s loose, tighten it up.

Solutions

How to troubleshoot if the Hall sensor fails the test? This part rarely breaks down, the main reason for the failure is the Ariston SM overload. There is only one option – replacing the tachogenerator. You need to disconnect it from the engine:

  1. Remove the latch cover, it can be bolted on.
  2. Now unscrew the sensor mounting bolts.
  3. Install the new part in reverse order.

If everything is done correctly, this will help solve the problem. The washing machine will work in normal mode, and error F02 will no longer appear.
