Heating equipment blocked? There is probably a failure in the system. How to troubleshoot? The error codes of the Westen boilers will help you. The self-diagnosis system scans all nodes and reports failures of the control board. As a result, numeric characters appear on the scoreboard. Their decoding indicates the cause of the malfunction.
Features of Westen boilers
The most popular models are the Westen Pulsar and the Westen Quasar. These are wall-mounted gas boilers with two circuits. One circuit is responsible for the heating system, heating the area up to 180 m², the other one heats the liquid for hot water supply (DHW).
The Westen Pulsar design includes a circulation pump, so the coolant moves along the circuit forcibly. The unit program uses automatic changeover to summer mode. In the warm season, the heating circuit is switched off together with the outdoor thermostat. Also, the appliance does not start heating at nightfall.
The boiler has a closed combustion chamber, the smoke is forced out by means of a fan. Requires an additional network connection. The efficiency is 91%. Productivity reaches 9 l/min.
Westen Quasar connects to a single underfloor heating system. An open combustion chamber requires connection to a fixed chimney. The air to maintain the flame is taken from the room, so high-quality ventilation is necessary. Efficiency – 90%. Protection against freezing, overheating, lack of traction is provided.
Errors and malfunctions
You can find the meanings of the error codes in the instruction manual, as well as in the table below. Reboot the boiler first to reset the problem. To do this, hold down the R button. Didn’t help? Then you need to look for the cause of the malfunction.
Error Codes | What does | How to fix a breakdown |
E01 | There is no ignition. |
|
E03 | The traction sensor has tripped. | What to do:
|
Gives error E10 (triangle in a circle with an exclamation point on the screen) | There is no communication with the hydraulic pressure switch. |
|
E25 | The coolant does not circulate well around the circuit. | How to fix the situation:
|
E35 | Parasitic flame detected. |
|
E97 | Unstable power: possibly power surges in the network. | System reboot. Connect a voltage stabilizer. Repair or replace the electronic board. |
Other problems
Those breakdowns that are not displayed as an error code are easy to identify by external signs.
If the boiler is switched on in heating mode, but the radiators do not heat up:
- Inlet valves blocked or not completely open. Open all taps;
- An air pocket has formed. Bleed excess air from the circuit using Mayevsky taps;
- Three-way valve defective. In double-circuit models, the valve switches the flow of the coolant from heating to hot water. If it is broken, one of the circuits may not heat up. The valve needs to be diagnosed and repaired.
Low system pressure:
- Leaks in pipes or fittings. Check the strength of the connections. For insulation, use plumbing tow or sealant;
- The tightness of the membrane in the expansion tank is broken. Replace membrane;
- Insufficient amount of coolant. Add liquid.
Monitor the operation of the boiler, clean the nodes from plaque and debris. Once a year, invite a specialist for a technical inspection.
