Erigeron: landing and leaving
Erigeron, or small-petaled, belongs to the Aster family. It is a perennial ornamental plant that tolerates harsh Russian winters well and does not require much maintenance. Find out how to plant it in the country.
Features of landing erigeron
Herbaceous perennial reproduces well by dividing the bush. The procedure begins in early spring, as soon as the snow melts. The age of the mother plant should not exceed 3 years, old shoots take root poorly.
At the end of March, they dig up the mother bush, carefully divide it into several plots and plant them in a new place. Leave 30−35 cm between plants, this distance is enough for growth and development. Immediately after planting, young bushes are covered from night frosts, since they are still weak. An adult plant does not need shelter.
In the northern regions of the country, herbaceous shrubs are propagated by seeds, ready-made seedlings are planted in open ground. Many seeds are used for planting, as they sprout hard. At the beginning of March, the bowls are filled with loose soil, the seeds are evenly distributed over the surface. The seeding depth is 0,5 cm. The dishes are covered with glass and removed to a warm, bright place. Seeds germinate for a long time, their germination rate is low.
What care does Erigeron need
The plant is suitable for busy gardeners, does not need constant care. In order for perennials to please with flowering every year, it is enough to follow simple recommendations:
- water the plant as needed, avoid excessive dryness of the soil;
- select well-lit areas for planting shrubs;
- feed the bushes with ash;
- spray small-petals with Bordeaux liquid 1-2 times in the spring.
The bush is watered infrequently; in a rainy summer, natural precipitation is quite enough. During dry periods, the plant is watered regularly, but the soil is allowed to dry out.
The small-petal does not need special feeding; in the spring, a handful of ash is brought under the bushes and spud. At the first signs of the disease, yellowed and dry shoots are cut off, the plant is treated with 1% Bordeaux liquid. If necessary, spraying is repeated after 10-14 days.
As you can see, there is nothing difficult in planting an erigeron and caring for it, even a novice gardener can handle it. Choose the right small petal varieties to create spectacular garden arrangements. For more information about the unusual plant, see the thematic video.
