Erdomed powder is a preparation that helps to clear the respiratory tract and facilitates expectoration. The drug thins the secretions in the respiratory tract and facilitates its removal. The active substance of the drug is erdostein, which is a derivative of the amino acid methionine. This substance increases the secretion of mucus in the respiratory tract and reduces its viscosity. The indications for taking Erdomed powder are:

Erdomed powder and contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Erdomed powder are:

  1. allergy to any component of the preparation or substances containing sulfhydryl groups -SH,
  2. liver problems (e.g. increased liver enzymes in the blood)
  3. kidney failure
  4. homocystinuria (a disorder of amino acid metabolism),
  5. fenyloketonuria,
  6. use during pregnancy and breastfeeding,
  7. use in sachets in children up to 12 years of age,
  8. use in the bottle for children under 2 years of age.

Dosage of Erdomed powder

Use of the preparation in sachets:

  1. Adults: 1 sachet 2-3 times a day.
  2. Children after the age of 12: 1 sachet twice a day, every 2 hours.

No dosage adjustment is necessary for the elderly. There is no need to change the dosage in the elderly and patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Using Erdomed in the bottle

Add water to the bottle and shake until a thin cloudy suspension is obtained. If necessary, it is recommended to refill with water up to the mark and shake it again. This produces 100 ml of boiled suspension. Store the suspension at 2-8 ° C for no longer than a week.

  1. For children over 2 years of age, the dosage will be determined by the doctor depending on the body weight; the usual dose is 10 mg / kg body weight in 2 divided doses:
  2. body weight 15-20 kg: 2,5 ml twice a day,
  3. body weight 21-30 kg: 5 ml twice a day,
  4. body weight over 30 kg: 7,5 ml twice a day.

There is no need to change the dosage of the drug in the elderly.
