Epilation with sugar at home: video instruction
Epilation with sugar (shugaring) is an ancient way to remove unwanted hair, which was used even by Queen Cleopatra. Despite the large number of newfangled methods of hair removal, this simple and at the same time effective way has won the hearts of Western and domestic beauties, making them forget about razors, creams and wax.
Advantages of home hair removal with sugar
Shugaring is absolutely safe due to the use of an environmentally friendly natural composition that includes sugar, water and lemon juice, without preservatives, dyes and other harmful chemical additives. After completing the procedure, you just need to rinse off the remnants of the paste with ordinary warm water, without resorting to the use of any additional cosmetics.
Sugar hair removal is hypoallergenic, that is, it does not cause long-term redness of the skin and allergic reactions, due to which it can be used even for sensitive areas of the body. Your skin after shugaring will become smooth and velvety, without redness, bubbles or pimples.
By properly preparing the sugar paste, you can effectively remove even the shortest hairs of 1-2 millimeters in length.
In addition, sugar epilation is a method that can be applied to any part of the body, including the bikini area, which is especially important for women who are embarrassed to carry out this delicate procedure in the salon.
The only drawback of sugar hair removal is minor pain. Shugaring has no serious contraindications. Caution must be observed only for those who suffer from diabetes mellitus. It is also worth refraining from the procedure if there are purulent wounds on the skin and after a long stay in direct sunlight or visiting a solarium.
Making sugar paste at home
To make sugaring sugar paste, you will need:
- 10 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon of water
- juice of half a lemon
Mix all components thoroughly in an aluminum saucepan, put on low heat and heat, stirring constantly. You should have a mass of uniform consistency. At first, the paste will become transparent, then it will take on a caramel shade. Boil the composition over low heat for about 5-10 minutes. Please note that if you do not cook the paste, it will not roll well into balls, and if you overcook it, you will need to knead it for a long time to an optimal rubber state. Remove from heat, transfer to a plastic bowl and let cool.
If the viscous mixture does not stick to your fingers, then you prepared it correctly.
To make the paste better interact with the hairs, immediately before the procedure, wash, degrease and dry the necessary area of the body. You can also sprinkle the area to be epilated with talcum powder. If your hair is too long – more than 6 millimeters, trim it.
Step by step sugar epilation
Using a spatula, apply a thin layer of warm sugar paste in the direction of hair growth. Cover with a strip of cotton and press down, leaving a free edge on one side only. As soon as the strip adheres well to the paste, grab it by the free edge and pull it sharply against hair growth.
There is another way to carry out sugar hair removal at home. Take a small amount of the paste with a spoon and begin to knead with your fingers, carefully stretching it in different directions. The warmth of your hands will soften the paste. If it does not become elastic and soft, add a few drops of hot water and continue to knead vigorously. As a result, the paste will become viscous. To carry out shugaring, gently roll the prepared sugar ball against the hair growth, wait a few seconds and pull it sharply in the direction of hair growth.
Rinse off the remaining paste after the procedure with warm water, and lubricate the skin with an emollient balm. To prevent ingrown hairs, scrub the epilated areas at least 1-2 times a week.
The main difficulty that you may encounter is making your own pasta of the correct consistency. Therefore, at first you need to be patient.
The principle of operation of sugar hair removal at home
With deep penetration into the hair follicle, the components of the sugar paste completely remove hairs, minimizing the risk of ingrown hairs and inflammation. A big plus of epilation with sugar is that the paste, enveloping and delicately removing all hairs, does not damage the living cells of the epidermis. In addition, ingrown hairs can be removed thanks to shugaring. If necessary, you can apply the paste to one area of the skin several times without injuring it. In addition, sugar has an antiseptic effect, which minimizes the risk of infection during the procedure.
Depending on the individual characteristics of the body, after sugar epilation, the hair will begin to grow back in 1-1,5 months. If you regularly carry out this procedure, your hair will become thinner and weaker, and this will greatly simplify the process of removing them.
