There is hoarseness, slurred speech until the voice is completely lost, and there is an inhalation whistle – a high-pitched crowing sound when you inhale. Due to the threat to the child’s life, this condition should be professionally assessed by a doctor as soon as possible.

A vaccine against Haemophilus influenzae is currently available.
