The Board of the Polish Society of Epidemiologists and Doctors of Infectious Diseases sent an open letter to the most important people in Poland. The infectious diseases are appealing to the government to introduce covid passports as soon as possible. An open letter was sent to President Andrzej Duda, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski, Speaker of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek and Speaker of the Senate Tomasz Grodzki. It was signed by 15 specialists in infectious diseases, including the president of the Polish Society of Epidemiologists and Doctors of Infectious Diseases, prof. Robert Flisiak.

The appeal is caused by “the enormous number of cases and deaths from COVID-19” and “the uncertainty surrounding the emergence of new variants of the virus”.
Doctors call for urgent work on legal acts that will allow employers to verify vaccinations among employees.

In its letter, the Management Board calls for the urgent introduction of legal provisions, restricting access to public places in closed spaces for people who do not have the EU COVID Certificate (UCC). The necessity was also underlined introducing high penalties for fraudulent activities related to vaccination certificates.
It was also noted that the rulers should mobilize security services to better enforcement of existing regulations, mainly those related to wearing the mask in closed public spaces.
