Chief epidemiologist of the University Teaching Hospital in Wrocław, prof. Jarosław Drobnik said on Tuesday that according to his forecasts, the peak of the pandemic may come in mid-December and then it may be recorded daily from 25 thousand. up to 30 thousand infections.
«This level may take several or even several days. In our hospital, we do everything to prepare for such a state. The bed base is being increased, not only for covid patients in a temporary hospital”- said Drobnik.
He judged that, unfortunately, the worst possible pandemic model for the hospital, which involves spreading outbreaks of infections, is being implemented. “We are a highly specialized hospital and we have to deal with severely ill patients, such as stroke patients, over a long period of time, sometimes for weeks, in various situations. COVID-19 is only somehow + glued + to these patients, because they have a more serious problem, because of which they have to stay with us with this covid »- said the doctor.
He added that such patients are in various departments, including in gynecology and obstetrics, in neurology, neurosurgery and in the trauma department, where they are sent in an emergency. In his opinion, there are also more and more minor COVID-19 patients.
When asked about vaccinations, incl. is it necessary to take the third dose of the so-called reminder, the doctor replied that it was worth doing.
