Ephesus beer: history, review, types, interesting facts

The most popular and titled brand of Turkish beer belongs to the product portfolio of Anadolu Efes, one of the leaders in the international alcohol market.

The drink is supplied to more than 50 countries, has repeatedly become the owner of prestigious world awards.

Today, the holding includes more than 2 dozen breweries in different countries, half of them in Russia.

Efes brand history

Anadolu Efes was founded in 1969. In the same year, the factories in Istanbul and Izmar produced the first beer under the Efes Pilsen brand.

During the 70s and 80s, the company actively increased its capacity by opening its own malt houses and breweries in different regions of Turkey.

In 1986, a special division “Efes Pazarlama” was founded to manage marketing and sales.

In 1996, the corporation opened the first brewery outside the country. They became a plant in Kazakhstan.

In 1998, a subsidiary company, Efes Breweries International, was established in Holland to carry out international operations. A year later, Anadolu introduced the first beer brand (“Old Melnik”) on the Russian market, and by the end of the XNUMXth century, it managed to acquire two more breweries: in Romania and Moscow (MEB).

In 2012, the corporation entered into a partnership agreement with one of the world’s largest beer producers, SABMiller.

In 2017, the company was named Brand of the Year at the prestigious World Branding Awards.

Today, Anadolu Efes is the 5th largest brewer in Europe and 15th in the world in terms of sales. The holding includes 21 plants: 3 in Turkey, 11 in Russia, 3 in Ukraine, 2 in Kazakhstan, one each in Moldova and Georgia. Also in her possessions are several enterprises for the production of malt and hop processing.
