Entus Max is used as an aid in acute and chronic respiratory diseases with abnormal secretion and difficult expectoration of bronchial secretions. The active substance of the drug ambroxol, which increases the secretion of mucus in the respiratory tract. The drug is in the form of a syrup and over-the-counter tablets.

Entus Max – indications and dosage

Entus Max is a drug used as an auxiliary in acute and chronic respiratory diseases with abnormal secretion and difficult expectoration of bronchial secretions:

  1. emphysema,
  2. bronchial asthma,
  3. bronchiectasis
  4. cystic fibrosis,
  5. bronchitis,
  6. pneumonia,
  7. laryngitis bronchitis,
  8. inflammation of the larynx, nose, throat and sinuses.

The drug also facilitates pre- and postoperative rehabilitation and facilitates expectoration prior to bronchographic examination.

Drug dosage

Entus Max may be in the form of tablets and syrup for oral administration. Take the medicine after a morning and afternoon meal. If the treatment lasts more than 14 days, the dose can be reduced by half.

  1. Adults and children after the age of 12 30 mg three times a day for the first 3-2 days of treatment, then twice a day.

Entus Max and contraindications

A contraindication to taking Entus Max is allergy to any component of the drug.

Entus Max – warnings

  1. Caution should be exercised in patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers and with hepatic or renal insufficiency. Consult your doctor and consider reducing the daily dose of the drug or extending the dosing interval.
  2. People with a weakened cough reflex and impaired ciliary clearance of the bronchi should be careful due to the risk of secretions remaining.
  3. You should not take antitussive drugs at the same time.
  4. In the initial phase of taking the drug, an excessive amount of bronchial fluid may appear. In such a situation it is necessary to provoke a cough or to suck up the secretion.
  5. Patients with bronchial asthma may experience severe coughing and excessive productive production at first.
  6. Do not take the drug immediately before going to bed.
  7. People who are intolerant to fructose should not take the drug because it contains sorbitol.
  8. Due to the content of benzoic acid and propylene glycol, Entus Max may cause allergic reactions.
  9. Pregnant and breastfeeding women may take the drug only after medical consultation and if absolutely necessary, when the doctor determines that the benefit for the mother outweighs the risk for the fetus.

Entus Max with other drugs

  1. Inform your doctor about all recently taken preparations.
  2. Taking the drug with antibiotics such as amoxicillin, cefuroxime, doxycycline, erythromycin increases their penetration into the lung tissue and intensifies their action.
  3. Ambroxol and theophylline intensify each other’s effects.
  4. It is not recommended to take antitussive drugs with the preparation at the same time, because it helps to remove a large amount of secretion.

Entus Max – side effects

Taking Entus Max tablets may cause the following side effects:

  1. stomach pain,
  2. nausea and constipation
  3. heartburn,
  4. vomiting,
  5. indigestion,
  6. hypersensitivity reactions: rash, itching, breathing problems,
  7. anaphylactic reactions: face swelling, dyspnoea, increased temperature, anaphylactic shock,
  8. rare: dry mouth and respiratory tract,
  9. difficult urination.
