Entertainment is the husk of the holidays. There is a custom to decorate special days with a rejection of everyday worries, special food, special types of physical and intellectual activity, etc. When people are deprived of holidays, they create entertainment for themselves — everything is the same, food, idleness, fun, only without semantic content.

Entertainment can be resourceful and exhausting, meaningful and not, socially useful and socially dangerous. Entertainment turns out to be children and work, quarrels and personal growth, self-improvement classes and attending trainings …

The more people’s lives become more convenient and comfortable, the more free time people have, the more they occupy their time with entertainment (clarification — this applies to a small extent to people-creators, but they do not make up the majority of the population).

How others live, let them decide for themselves, but for themselves, regarding entertainment, you need to decide. How? There is no single answer here, everything is specific here.

The first situation is that we are doing business. Here, it would seem. it’s simple: when you need to do business, you need to do business, not entertainment. However, there is a loophole: there are many things around us, and from them you can always choose not the most important, not the highest priority, but more pleasant. And then do this business, actually doing what? Basically, entertainment. In time management, entertainment is a business that is done not because it is now needed, but because it is pleasant. This is not suitable for responsible work.

But.

To work for a long time and for years, you need to deal not only with work, but also with the restoration of strength and energy. You need to rest and have fun, only — to rest properly and have fun properly. It is necessary to have fun, it is only important to do it correctly — resourcefully. Each entertainment should give strength the desire to do something further, a sense of relaxation, a charge of vivacity and a working mood.

There are right entertainments, and there are wrong ones, everything is determined by your energy and desire to work after you have appointed yourself as entertainment. If you went to the cinema, sat there for two hours, eating popcorn in the dark, and then went out into the fresh air with a heavy head, it probably was not the best idea. If you and your best friends have drunk a lot, you are no longer up to work. Call it what you will, but it is bad for business and health, and it is not called proper entertainment.

The girl wanted to eat a cookie. In fact, it would be possible to do without, but you can also go look (5 minutes). What if you didn’t find it? Enter the store? No, I’ll start baking a pie … To the store — 10 minutes, bake a pie — 30 minutes. And then make yourself tea and drink without haste with a pie. Total — one hour minus.

Is it possible for a smart and responsible person to entertain himself with cute nonsense, stupid purchases, empty chatter? — Can. If you know when, how much and for what. If you did a great job today, are a little tired and want to reward yourself with shopping — this is a perfectly sound idea, it is only important to agree with yourself on the amount for shopping (a small amount) and the time for this entertainment (reasonable time). Shops are made up of bright and cheerful things, they are specially designed to cheer you up — why not take advantage of this, taking everything you need from it (joy and cheerfulness) and not losing anything essential (again, about time and money)? It’s just feeding on positive emotions, and within such a framework, it’s quite reasonable.

Proper entertainment is such things, after which you have more energy and desire to do everything that you need to do. Be sure to put them in the affairs of the day and do not be too lazy to complete them. Joy to you!
