Meet Elisa Tovati
Cabine 23, Elisa Tovati’s new album has just been released. Punctuated by pop music and intimate songs, this multi-talented artist tells us about her professional life and her life as a mother. Meet with ease.
Why this new album Cabine 23?
Elisa Tovati: It’s the story of a woman who leaves to forget but also to find her identity and her own story. A musical journey to pop music and punctuated by unexpected encounters, aboard the mythical Orient-Express train. Direction Venice, Vienna, Istanbul, Moscow to the borders of Asia and the frozen banks of the Amur river. The songs also speak of fleeting loves and memories. Corn, this album is also a testimony for my children. I wanted to tell them, in a metaphorical way, the story of my family and my origins with this mix between North and South.
How did you choose the songs?
Elisa Tovati: My two boys helped me choose between the different songs. Léo, 1 year and a half, absolutely wanted “Pitchipoï” to be on the album and Joseph, 5, adores “Tout le temps *” and “Je voyage”. They know them all by heart! Besides, my youngest son often wants to sing a duet with me, and when we play the game, it’s as if there was a communion between us. I also wanted this opus to be built like a musical film with sound effects and interludes. Moreover, the tour which will begin soon, is built like a real spectacle combining my two passions: singing and comedy. On the program, monologues and voiceovers to tell the story of this young woman who reconnects with her roots.
How do you manage to reconcile your job and your family life?
Elisa Tovati: It’s almost an impossible mission. We don’t have schedules, we have to work evenings and weekends. Corn, i try to spend as much time as possible with my children. When I’m in Paris, I arrange to devote time to them on Wednesdays or take them to creative and sporting workshops. When I sing less than 300 km from home, I always come home at night to be there when they wake up. Involving them in this album is also a way of associating my sons with my life as an artist. Like during tours or filming. When I have to leave for several months, they always accompany me. We have a very close relationship and it is difficult to separate even for a few days. They are still small, so that is not a problem with the school. Suddenly, they travel. They have already been to Israel, Greece, Tunisia, Morocco… And for my part, I have peace of mind to work. When I do a TV show that’s kid-friendly, I take Joseph with me so he can see how my work is going. And, if I’m not with my sons, they like to listen to my songs, it calms them down and it’s like I’m a bit there.
* “Tout le temps”, in duet with Brice Conrad is the first single taken from the album Cabine 23, Play On.
