Elidel is a drug used in dermatology to treat the symptoms of atopic dermatitis. The preparation has anti-inflammatory properties. It is available as a cream and can only be obtained with a prescription.

Indications for use of the drug Elidel

The active substance in Elidel cream is pimecrolimus. It is given to patients for the treatment of adults, adolescents and children after 2 years of age with mild to moderate AD, when topical corticosteroids are not recommended or not recommended (intolerance or no response to topical corticosteroids, use on the skin of the face and neck). A thin layer of Elidel ointment should be applied to the affected area. It can be used on the skin of any part of the body, including the face, neck and skin folds.

Dosage of Elidel cream:

Adults, adolescents and children over 2 years of age: apply a thin layer of the preparation twice a day on the affected area of ​​the skin and rub gently until completely absorbed.

Elidel and contraindications

  1. Do not use in children up to the age of 2.
  2. Elide should not be used continuously for a long time. Treatment should be interrupted, short-term, cyclical (up to 12 months).
  3. Do not use on mucous membranes. Do not use under an occlusive dressing. Use on each affected area of ​​the skin until the changes have completely or almost completely disappeared. Treatment should be discontinued when symptoms resolve. If your symptoms recur for the first time, please consult your doctor.
  4. If there is no improvement after 6 weeks of using the preparation, the doctor will probably prescribe a different treatment.
