El Toril (El Toril)

Tequila “El Toril” belongs to the premium class and consists of 100% distilled blue agave juice without impurities. However, it costs much less than its famous counterparts. Therefore, the popularity of the brand is steadily growing. About 3 million liters of this tequila are produced annually.

Historical reference. At the end of the XNUMXth century, the fashion for tequila spread throughout the world. The capacity of Mexican distilleries (distilleries) was clearly not enough to meet consumer demand. Foreigners took advantage of the situation. They invested in the construction of distilleries designed for the production of tequila and equipped with the latest technology. But this was the drawback of such enterprises: additives that accelerate the fermentation process killed the taste and smell of the drink.

High-quality tequila is made only from ripe agave, and the plant needs 8-10 years to mature. The newly-minted “tequileros” were not going to wait so long. Cases have become more frequent when tequila was given out as base alcohol from a mixture of various alcohols (corn, wheat, cane) and a small amount of real agave distillate.

In 1997, the Mexican government declared tequila a national treasure, establishing clear criteria for determining the quality of the drink. Then, in 1997, several entrepreneurs, using the state program to help national businesses, founded the Tequila Quiote company with completely Mexican capital.

A new distillery was built in the vicinity of the city of Atotonilco el Alto, in the state of Jalisco. It was simply not possible to find a better place: the water of the local sources is famous for its softness. The blue agave for the distillery is grown on the fertile lands of the Los Altos Valley. In the manufacture of El Toril tequila, no chemical additives or other alcohols are used, except for agave. The fermentation process is not artificially accelerated, and copper cubes are used to distill the fermented juice.

The word “El Toril” in Spanish-speaking countries refers to the corral in which bulls are kept before bullfighting. The bottle of tequila really depicts an angry bull rushing into battle. Both the name and the picture are symbolic: every sip of this completely natural drink invigorates and awakens vitality.

Types of tequila El Toril

Currently, three varieties of El Toril tequila are produced with a strength of 40%:

  • El Toril Silver is a young colorless tequila with a herbal aroma and a fresh agave taste that gives way to a salty aftertaste;
  • El Toril Gold is a straw golden tequila aged two months. Contains no colors or artificial sweeteners. The drink has a pleasant aroma of tropical fruits and a soft, slightly sweet taste of ripe agave with caramel-fruity notes;
  • El Toril Reposado is an amber-golden tequila that is aged in oak barrels for six months. Fruit-vanilla and woody shades are clearly expressed in its taste and smell. It is right to drink this tequila in small sips, enjoying a warm aftertaste with a noble oak bitterness.
