Ejaculation: the high point of male orgasm?

Male ejaculation is often associated with male pleasure. However, it results only from a biological mechanism, and can in particular be a source of difficulties, in spite of the pleasure felt during sexual intercourse. What is ejaculation and what are the different pathologies linked to it?

What is male ejaculation?

Male ejaculation is the expulsion of semen from the penis, following sexual stimulation. This is a biological response of the body, a reflex that is usually associated with orgasm, but not necessarily. Ejaculation can be the consequence of stimulation due to penetration, masturbation or even fellatio. It occurs as a result of erection, and is therefore strongly linked to sexual arousal. Ejaculation takes place through the urethral meatus, during a sequence of 4 to 8 muscle contractions, during which the sperm is ejected outwards. Although it is the same channel, it is not possible for semen and urine to be ejected at the same time as the bladder neck automatically closes during ejaculation. Finally, the volume of semen expelled is generally between 2 and 6 mL, depending on the person, age or even the frequency with which ejaculations take place.

Is ejaculation synonymous with orgasm?

We often hear that ejaculation is the high point of male enjoyment and orgasm. However, as we have seen, ejaculation is a mechanical response of the body, a physiological reflex. In fact, it is not necessarily linked to orgasm. In the case of premature ejaculation, it is very rare that this is accompanied by intense pleasure, and therefore by an orgasm. Indeed, premature ejaculation is generally not wanted: triggered too quickly, it often does not give the individual time to take pleasure and reach orgasm. Likewise, be aware that it is also possible to have an orgasm without ejaculating, even in men. We then speak of ejaculation: it consists in strongly contracting the pubococcygeal muscle when we feel that ejaculation is imminent, in order to retain it. This technique allows you to chain several orgasms without losing your erection.

How to manage and control your ejaculation

Ejaculation, although it is a physiological response, can however be controlled. One can for example choose to delay his ejaculation thanks to the mind. It is indeed possible to control your erection so that it lasts longer by focusing on it. This requires knowing your body and your desire well, and knowing how to apprehend its pleasure while maintaining it at a certain level. Each man has his own technique to control his ejaculation: some think of something else while the excitement goes down, others slow down the rate of intercourse, etc. While feeling pleasure, it is therefore quite possible to delay the moment of ejaculation and orgasm.

What to do in case of difficulty ejaculating?

Difficulty ejaculating and problems with ejaculation can be caused by several factors. It can be a physical dysfunction, or a disorder of psychological origin. In the case of a physiological cause, this may be due to certain treatments, especially those against cancer, such as in the case of anejaculation. Men with this pathology ejaculate, but without the presence of sperm. Painful ejaculation in the urethra and pelvis, or with blood in the semen, may be a sign of a prostate infection, and should therefore be reported to your doctor. Finally, the difficulties associated with ejaculation such as premature ejaculation, which we will see below, are generally due to psychological factors.

What is premature ejaculation?

An ejaculation is considered premature when it occurs consistently up to 3 minutes after the onset of sexual stimulation. It affects a large number of men during their life and is neither a disease nor an incurable pathology. This is because premature ejaculation often affects men at the start of their sex life, due to poor experience and lack of control. It is often caused by stress, high pressure or unfavorable physiological conditions (lack of self-confidence, etc.). Premature ejaculation can be worked on and treated, in particular with the help of a sex therapist, to determine its origin. The solution lies in the work of mastering your pleasure and in learning about your body and its relationship to erection.
