There is also no problem with its use among other groups, e.g. allergy sufferers. Onion syrup has been known since the dawn of time, our grandmothers and great-grandmothers used it very often.

  • Colds and flu: these diseases are well treated with onion syrup;
  • Helps fight fever and lowers low-grade fever;
  • It is an irreplaceable home remedy in the treatment of persistent cough;
  • Onion syrup is also great for treating persistent runny nose. All you need to do is soak a cotton ball in onion syrup and then gently insert it into the clogged nostril for a few minutes. This should bring relief and reduce the symptoms of a troublesome runny nose.

Onion syrup: recipe

  1. Choose two or three good, firm onions. peel them;
  2. Chop the onion into small pieces, then put it in a bowl;
  3. Sprinkle the whole thing with a few spoons of sugar (large);
  4. Add a tablespoon of honey (if you don’t have it at home, you can skip this step; you should also check if the person you want to give honey to is not allergic to it);
  5. Cover the whole thing with a plate and wait about 3-5 hours;
  6. After this time, the syrup is ready to consume and will give the best results.

Onion syrup is rich in vitamins

Onion along with garlic are two of the most natural remedies. Onion contains strong disinfecting ingredients, and besides, it contains a lot of vitamins, micro- and macroelements. Onions contain, among others, vitamin C, which improves immunity, but also B vitamins, vitamin A and vitamin PP. Onions also contain zinc, phosphorus and calcium, which make us immune to viruses.

Using onion syrup

Children should be given no more than 2-3 teaspoons of syrup a day, preferably after breakfast, lunch and dinner or just before these meals. Adults can consume more onion syrup, but also in moderation. Although it is a natural medicine, it is also an effective medicine, which, if used in excess, will not fulfill its role well.
