What stains can be removed with baking soda
Fat
Soda will help get rid of grease stains of any type, be it ointment, food or gasoline. It is important not to use hot water when processing greasy contaminants – this will only fix them in the fabric structure.
Method No. 1. For fresh spots. An effective composition based on baking soda and liquid dishwashing detergent. The first step is to treat the grease stain with talcum powder: you need to thickly sprinkle it with pollution and leave for 7-10 hours so that the powder absorbs most of the fat. The second step is the preparation of an effective composition. To do this, you need 2 teaspoons of sodium bicarbonate and 3-5 drops of dishwashing detergent. The cleaning composition should have a thick, mushy consistency. Apply it to the stained fabric and leave for 20-30 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with cold water and launder.
Method No. 2. Gel based on soda ash to remove any greasy stains. An effective and easy-to-use composition that does not leave streaks. Suitable for all fabrics except wool and silk. It is very easy to prepare such a gel. To do this, you need soda ash (200 g), laundry soap (200 g) and water (2,5 l).
First you need to choose a suitable container (it can not be used later for cooking). Finely grate the soap, pour it into a container with 1,5 liters of water and put on medium heat. As the composition heats up, stir it periodically until the soap is completely dissolved. After that, you can enter the rest of the water. Mix everything thoroughly and pour in soda ash (it should completely dissolve). Again, achieve the homogeneity of the mixture (do not allow the composition to boil and foam to appear on its surface). Remove the gel from the fire, let it cool and infuse for a day.
Blood
Fresh blood stains are not so difficult to remove, but with old ones, the situation is somewhat different. In this case, you can use a cleaning composition based on washing powder with the addition of baking soda. Mix the components in a small amount (ratio 1:2) and pour onto the contaminated area of the fabric. Pour some water on top. Using a soft brush or fingers, rub the material in a circular motion towards the center. After leaving for 30 minutes. Wash the product by hand in warm water.
Alcohol
Champagne, white wine, beer, whatever – soda will help to remove any alcohol from the material. To do this, you will need laundry soap, sodium bicarbonate and boiled water. Finely grate the soap, pour it into water at room temperature, add soda there. Mix thoroughly and let it brew a little. Treat the contaminated area with the finished composition and leave it in this form for a day. After rinsing the product in cold water and washing in a convenient way.
Grass
Often, grass marks remain on denim. Soda will help remove them not only from jeans, but also from any other natural material. First you need to prepare a mild cleaning composition: mix boiled water, baking soda and table vinegar in a ratio of 4:2:1. In the resulting composition, thoroughly blot a cotton swab and treat the grass stain with it. Leave to act for 15-20 minutes. Wash the product by hand or in the machine.
Краска
This method is suitable for removing stains of ingrained paint. The first step is to heat up 50g of kerosene and carefully pour it over the stain to make the paint runny again. Then pour 1 tbsp. a spoonful of baking soda and carefully, but without excessive zeal, wipe the stained area of uXNUMXbuXNUMXbthe fabric. Rub until traces of paint are gone. After completing the procedure, rinse the fabric and wash the product in a convenient way.
Sweat
Sodium bicarbonate is great for removing unsightly yellow sweat stains on whites. You need to mix baking soda, hydrogen peroxide and boiled water (cold) in a ratio of 3:3:5. Then apply the finished product to the contaminated part of the clothing and leave to act for 30-40 minutes. Rinse thoroughly in cold water and launder in the most convenient way.
For old sweat stains, the above steps may not be enough. In this case, there is a more aggressive and effective method. First, the product will need to be soaked in soapy water with the addition of bleach or powder. Then rinse thoroughly. And only after that, soak the item in the vinegar solution for 30-40 minutes (at the rate of 2 tablespoons of vinegar per 5 liters of water). The last step is to apply baking soda to the stain, after diluting it in water (4 tablespoons of sodium bicarbonate to 1 tablespoon of water). Wash the item by hand or in the machine.
Urine
Unpleasantly smelling urine stains on a carpet or sofa are another surprise from kids and pets. Such pollution requires intensive exposure, because they have an unpleasant odor. First, thoroughly blot the material with a dry cloth or paper towel. Then mix 2 tbsp. spoons of soda with a vial of hydrogen peroxide. Pour the resulting mixture into a spray bottle and spray on the stain. Wipe it with a thick cloth. If this does not give the desired effect, re-apply the composition and leave for a while. Then blot with a napkin. To speed up the drying of the treated area, you can use a hair dryer.
Iodine
Iodine stains can become a problem if you don’t know how to remove them properly. Soda is a versatile option. It is enough to sprinkle a fabric stained with iodine with sodium bicarbonate powder, drop a little vinegar on top (literally a few drops) and leave for a violent reaction overnight. Rinse thoroughly in the morning. Launder if necessary.
Soda bleach
Soda is a good bleach, especially when combined with ammonia. To prepare an effective bleach, dissolve in 5 liters of water 5 tbsp. tablespoons of baking soda. Add there 2 tbsp. spoons of ammonia solution. Soak the product in the resulting composition for several hours (3-5 will be enough). Then rinse the item thoroughly in cold water and send it to the wash.
For bleaching kitchen towels, there is another method proven by our grandmothers: mix 3 tbsp. spoons of baking soda, washing powder and household bleach in a large laundry container. Pour the mixture with the required amount of hot water. Soak towels in this composition and leave them overnight. Wash in the morning in a convenient way.
