Hemorrhoids are pathological enlargement of hemorrhoids that occurs against the background of circulatory disorders. However, even without a definition, many are familiar with this disease firsthand. According to some reports, about 1000-130 suffer from hemorrhoids per 145 people (1).
The following factors may contribute to the development of the disease:
- constipation and straining,
- prolonged diarrhea,
- pregnancy and childbirth,
- hypodynamia,
- systematic weight lifting
- abuse of spicy food and alcohol (2).
The blood flow to the cavernous formations (calves) increases, because of this, the hemorrhoids increase in size and shift towards the anal canal. As a result, a person feels unpleasant symptoms: pain, itching, burning, sensation of a foreign body in the anus, bleeding. The latter is the most common symptom, usually a person notices blood after an act of defecation. The second most common symptom is prolapsed hemorrhoids (1).
According to various sources, hemorrhoids occur in pregnant women in 8-42% of cases, in those who have recently given birth – in 28-49,8% of cases (3, 4, 5). Approximately half of women who suffer from this disease during pregnancy experience an exacerbation after childbirth (5).
KP, together with an expert proctologist, chose the top 10 effective suppositories for hemorrhoids that can be used in the postpartum period.

How to choose suppositories for hemorrhoids after childbirth
For the treatment of hemorrhoids, it is recommended to use drugs from the group of angioprotectors, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (for pain), hemostatic drugs (for acute bleeding) (1).
With thrombosis of hemorrhoids, the doctor may prescribe bioflavonoids, and if thrombosis is complicated by inflammation (but a purulent process is excluded), combined preparations containing anesthetics, anticoagulants and anti-inflammatory substances, plus bioflavonoids.
However, it is difficult for a person without a medical education to understand the components of different drugs for hemorrhoids. But you still need to take into account contraindications and possible “side effects”. In addition, at home, armed with an encyclopedia and the Internet, it is impossible to make a correct diagnosis.
The best solution is one: at the first symptoms, consult a doctor. And then strictly follow his recommendations.
