Educational campaign “Cancer is not a sentence. The power of modern medicine “

Is Polish Oncology going in the right direction? What are the results of oncological treatment in Poland compared to other EU countries? Which elements of the oncology package require immediate changes and which groups of oncology patients still have no chance for treatment?

These are just a few of the issues that the Warsaw Press Publishing House will try to answer as part of the next edition of the educational campaign “Cancer is not a sentence. The strength of modern medicine ”prepared on the occasion of the World Oncology Day under the substantive patronage of the Polish Oncological Society, the Polish Society of Clinical Oncology and the Polish Oncology Union.

The campaign was published with Gazeta Wyborcza on October 4. Medonet became the Media Partner of this event.

Prof. Jacek Fijuth, the President of the Polish Cancer Society, speaks about the challenges facing oncology in Poland as part of the campaign opening speech.

Prof. Jacek Jassem – Coordinator of the Working Group for the Implementation of the Cancer Strategy in Poland 2015-2014 on the chance that Poland will catch up in the fight against cancer thanks to properly planned activities.

The Polish Cancer Patient Coalition, in the voice of President Szymon Chrostowski, presents the fears and hopes of Polish cancer patients.

Prof. Wojciech Jurczak and Dr. Monika Długosz Danecka draw attention to the lack of access to treatment for patients with resistance or recurrence of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

Dr. Janusz Meder, President of the Polish Oncology Union, talks in a very interesting way about the depersonalization of medicine.

Prof. Piotr Wysocki, President of the Polish Society of Clinical Oncology, draws attention to the problem of access to therapeutic options for patients with colorectal cancer in whom previous treatment has failed.

We talk to Prof. Mirosław Ząbek, head of the Neurosurgery Clinic of the CMKP Hospital in Bródno, head of the Gamma Knife Center in Warsaw.

Another important topic was raised during the interview by Prof. Wiesław Jędrzejczak and Dr. Krzysztof Mądry, who looked at the issue related to myelodysplastic syndromes and severe myeloid leukemias.

The last, but no less important, issue that we raised as part of oncological prophylaxis is the topic of new diagnostic possibilities for breast cancer.
