Most of the summer is already behind us, but we will not talk about the sad, but rather summarize and tell you which skin care products especially impressed the Healthy-Food editor this summer.
New in the Génifique range
Old-timers in the beauty world remember a momentous event that happened 12 years ago, namely the sensational launch of Génifique serum, which made a kind of breakthrough in skin care from the Lancome brand. Even then it was clear that this truly outstanding product would become the ancestor of a new high-tech range of Lancome products, created according to the latest science of beauty.
The youngest in the family is the Advanced Génifique Yeux eye cream, enriched with pre- and probiotic fractions, hyaluronic acid and vitamin C.
Acid, summer?
Who uses acids in the summer? Is the Healthy-Food editor out of his mind? These quite legitimate questions may arise from our readers, because they are well aware that acid concentrates are not used during periods of high solar activity, as this is fraught with the formation of age spots.
However, every rule has an exception. We are talking about ultra-concentrated serum for skin with imperfections Effaclar from La Roche-Posay, which includes as many as three acids:
salicylic;
glycolic;
LHA.
All these acids have a renewing and exfoliating effect and, if you follow the dogma, it is better to use this concentrate in winter or in the off-season. However, personal experience proves otherwise.
I should tell you what prompted me, a person who had forgotten about acne a long time ago, to turn to this serum. Wearing a protective mask during the summer heat turned into such a phenomenon of the new time as maskne – rashes that occur as a result of wearing medical and protective masks.
I can say that this is the softest and at the same time effective acid concentrate that I have ever tried. The skin did not experience the slightest hint of discomfort, redness, not to mention peeling. I think this remedy owes its delicacy to the soothing thermal water and niacinamide in the composition.
This is a subjective assessment, but after the first application, the rashes began to recede, and after a week (I used the remedy every other day), there was no trace of uninvited guests.
Of course, when using this serum (as well as almost any acid composition), it is necessary to apply sun protection, this rule has not been canceled. So, you can move on to the next point.
Light cream with high SPF
To be honest, I don’t like to turn my face into a layer cake in the summer: serum, moisturizer, sunscreen, makeup – in conditions of heat and increased sweating, such a burden is too heavy for my skin. So if I need UV protection in an urban environment, I use a day cream with an SPF, preferably a high one. So the novelty of the Revitalift Filler range from L’Oréal Paris – a day cream with SPF 50 anti-aging care – came in handy. The formula with three types of hyaluronic acid and microfiller technology replenishes moisture in the skin, making it more full, supple, soft. During the day, the cream is not felt on the face, while the skin feels great. Add to that a very high SPF and you have a great summer skincare.
Eco discs from Garnier
Without pretending to be original, I confess that I have long belonged to the numerous army of fans of the Garnier micellar collection. My favorite rosewater micellar water is my go-to cleanser: I use it on my face in the morning to remove excess sebum and dust particles, and in the evening to remove dirt and makeup, then rinse my face with water. The skin remains flawlessly clean, radiant, soft, as if hard tap water never touched it.
Recently, another product has appeared in the collection, and this is not a bottle with a new micellar solution, but reusable cleansing eco-pads for the face, eyes and lips, for all skin types, even sensitive ones.
The kit includes three make-up removal discs made of soft, I would even say as soft as fluff material, which will allow you to remove make-up without effort and excessive friction. Personally, it is unpleasant for me to remove the remnants of the make-up under the ciliary edge with a cotton pad, as if scratching the skin.
