EDITOR’S CHOICE What textures we like

Now we are looking at many familiar things in a new way. When life goes online, I want to pay special attention to tactile sensations. In cosmetics, this moment is probably almost as important as effectiveness. And in general, touching the beautiful, in the literal sense of the word, if we are talking about skin care products, is a separate pleasure. So let’s share our experiences. Do not forget to write at the end which cream, serum or mask turned out to be the most pleasant for you to use.

Lena: Nerd Rose Water Cream, Garnier

“Melting”, “delicate like sorbet”, “like an airy cream”… The success of any cosmetic product largely depends on the texture. After all, in order for us to want to use them, a cream, tonic or mask must deliver not only aesthetic, but also tactile pleasure.

I remember how one day I was given one gorgeous serum. Everything was perfect in it: a stylish glass jar with a shimmering golden lid, composition, aroma … But the texture – the texture was, frankly, not very good. Serum was difficult to spread over the skin, poorly absorbed. I walked all day feeling like I was wearing a mask. After a couple of days, I began to apply the serum not twice a day, but only in the evening. And a couple of days later I put it in the closet, hoping that maybe someday I will ripen to it …

The experience with that serum was helpful: I don’t collect jars now. Now on my shelf in the bathroom there are only products with a pleasant texture and aroma for me. And one of them is Garnier’s Rose Water Botanic Cream for Dry and Sensitive Skin.

Thick but light in texture, with a pronounced floral scent, this cream is my inner hedonist’s favorite. You type it out of the jar and it seems that there is a small cloud in your hand. White, airy. Apply a couple of drops on the forehead, nose and cheeks. You spread it in a circular motion and you feel how these small “clouds” melt, delivering moisture to the skin. And if before that I felt dryness and tightness on my face (and after washing this is a typical situation for me), then after using the cream with rose water, the skin becomes soft, the discomfort disappears. After soaking the Botanic Cream, I do not feel any stickiness or film – and after a few minutes the cream no longer reminds of itself.

As a sophisticated user, this seemed surprising to me, because the “heavy artillery” cream contains glycerin and shea butter, which, with all due respect to their merits and caring properties, could leave a greasy feeling on the face. I tried experimenting with the amount of cream. Instead of two drops the size of a pea, she applied three more drops to her face – and the skin was no longer so willing to absorb the cream, there were excesses, the T-zone shone. So more is not better.

Nastya: Kiehl’s Avocado Mask

When we in the editorial team decided to write about the products with an unusual texture that we liked the most, I already knew what product to tell the readers of our site about. Mask with avocado Avocado Nourishing Hydration Mask, Kiehl’s won me over from the first try. Among the main characters in the composition are declared avocado extract, evening primrose oil and avocado oil. I don’t know how they manage to work so well together, but the effect of the mask is amazing.

What you should pay attention to? Many are confused by the non-standard texture – a thick, thick cream. It seems that during application it may be difficult to distribute on the skin. But if you pick up the right amount of product with your fingers and warm it up a little in your hands, the mask acquires a very pleasant melting texture. This is where it is necessary to apply the product in a fairly thin layer on a well-cleansed face, without affecting the area around the eyes. Then I would advise not to rush to make coffee or finish urgent household chores, but to lie down on the sofa with headphones and listen to a couple of chapters of a good book or just relax. After 15-20 minutes, the mask can be washed off. But always with elements of the most elementary self-massage. My impressions? The skin is soft and smooth, there is a feeling of good hydration – no tightness (and I have dry and sensitive skin). It is recommended to use three times a week, but I, like a real maniac, used it every day for the first week. And she did not regret it, the skin noticeably smoothed out and became more elastic and smooth, wrinkles disappeared. Of course not forever. But there’s nothing you can do about it, unfortunately. But the fact that immediately after the mask they became noticeably smaller is already a big plus.

Eka: Lancôme Pink Cryomask

What can you expect from a mask called sorbet (fruit and berry ice cream), and even with roses. Intriguing, agree. Hiding in the jar was a pink, finely perfumed substance, reminiscent of thin jelly, lightly covered with an icy sheen. It seemed that the texture would spring under the fingers, but even then there was an error – it turned out to be very tender to the touch. The mask falls on the face with a thin invisible layer and really slightly, very slightly cools the skin. You don’t need to rub the product, the manufacturer recommends applying it with patting movements – I just quickly spread the composition over the skin and left it for five minutes, which I spent in complete bliss. The mask does not interfere, does not irritate and reminds of itself only with a pleasant coolness. After washing off, I was even more surprised: my face was noticeably fresher, my skin smoothed out, and, most surprisingly, the pores became almost invisible. How does it work? What’s the secret? Maybe it’s all about rose water, salicylic acid and meadowsweet extract? Although it doesn’t really matter anymore…
