Ecological education of preschool children: means, methods
Ecological education of preschool children is an important stage in the development of a child. During this period, small people begin to be truly interested in the world around them.
Fundamentals of ecological culture
Parents should form a caring attitude towards nature in their children from the cradle. When the kids go to preschool, educators will also take care of this.
Children must learn to subtly perceive the beauty of the world, learn to take care of nature. For this, adults need to make every effort.
Success depends on how closely parents and caregivers work together.
The example of father and mother has a great influence. When the parents themselves love the world around them, then they will be able to easily cultivate a positive attitude towards nature in their children. Seeing how mom carefully waters the flowers, takes care of pets, and dad makes a winter bird feeder, the child learns to do the same. If children are cruel to plants and animals, the parents are most often to blame.
If this is not the case, then the educators will have to conduct explanatory conversations with the parents. A child will not be able to learn that it is necessary to protect nature if adult family members show the opposite by their behavior. Only through joint efforts can one achieve the fact that a well-mannered and nature-loving person will grow out of a baby.
Forms, means and methods of environmental education
Parents and educators should take time to walk with their children in the park, in the forest, near a lake, river, or even in the yard of their home. Such walks, combined with interesting stories and illustrative examples, awaken the child’s desire to explore nature and help animals.
The types of work with children can be varied:
- excursions and walks;
- caring for plants or animals;
- observations, experiments and experiments;
- conversations;
- play exercises;
- audio and video.
Special attention should be paid to unconventional working methods. Children like everything unusual, and in this case they will be more interested. Various holidays and ecology-themed entertainment have a strong impact on children’s emotions. Babies have a desire to communicate with nature and reflect their experiences and impressions through different activities.
Although fostering a respectful attitude to nature is not easy, the result is worth the effort and time.
