Echeveria domestic: reproduction
Echeveria is an excellent representative of the succulent genus. Its fleshy leaves are folded into an exotic flower that resembles a rose. The second name of this plant is “stone rose”. Echeveria domestic – propagation by leaves
The most popular way is to reproduce a flower with leaves. The seed method is a rather lengthy procedure and is practically not used by flower growers.

When separating the echeveria leaf from the parent flower, special care and caution must be exercised. It is impossible to allow injury to the base of the sheet, since there are breeding points. If they are damaged, the plant will not develop.
Stages of growing a plant with a leaf:
- Use a sharp blade to separate the sheet with the base.
- After separation, place the leaf in a dry place to dry the cut part – this is done to avoid rotting of the planting material.
- For further rooting, lay the leaf face up on the surface of the soil prepared for planting.
The flowerpot should be placed in a place with diffused light, it is possible under a fluorescent lamp. For the final rooting of the leaflet, it will take 2-3 weeks. After about 1,5 months, the rosettes of the flower appear and begin to develop, at which time the flower can be transplanted to a permanent place of residence. A plant grown with a leaf will begin to bloom in about 2 years.
Reproduction of echeveria rosettes
Some species cannot be grown with the help of daughter leaves, in such cases the rosette propagation method is used. It is considered the simplest and most convenient, especially when it comes to inexperienced flower growers.
Planting technology with a rosette:
- Carefully separate the apical rosette from the parent plant.
- Treat the cut with charcoal or activated charcoal powder.
- Leave the outlet on for 12 hours so that the cut point withers a little, then plant it in a damp substrate.
The advantage of this method is that the flower will begin to bloom as early as the year of planting. The process of breeding echeveria at home is a very exciting experience. It can also be a great hobby for years to come.
