Wday.ru asked Svetlana Buerakova, renowned decorator and business development director for Crate and Barrel, a chain of interior and home goods stores, for some useful tips on how to decorate a festive table.
Decorate the table with fresh flowers
“A joint Sunday lunch at a large table is a memorable event for the whole family, so it is important to think over everything to the smallest detail,” says Svetlana Buerakova. “So, in addition to Easter eggs and cakes, be sure to put seasonal fresh flowers on the table: they will delight you not only with a pleasant aroma, but also create a festive mood.”
Take bouquets that have already been created by florists, and if your imagination allows you, then come up with an original composition yourself. For example, look (in the photo above) how beautiful a wreath of bright flowers can look on the table.
At the same time, the decorator assures that a couple of large buds placed in elegant glasses, and maybe in an eggshell or cake mold, will look just as cute.
On the festive table there may be willow branches, one of the symbols of Easter.
Svetlana Buerakova, in preparation for Easter, advises to give preference to pastel shades, complementing them with bright details. “Light colors symbolize the spring awakening of nature and perfectly convey the mood of the holiday. For example, you can use neutral white dishes, and choose colored napkins and tablecloths: in this case, the table will look stylish, but will not be overloaded with bright colors, ”says Svetlana.
For Easter, you can decorate not only the table, but also the house. Place wreaths with light buds of flowers on the walls or doors, decorate all the shelves in the apartment with colorful eggs, update the familiar interior with new curtains or napkins …
Decorate Easter eggs in an unusual way
“Painted eggs can also be used in the decoration of the festive table. To do this, lay them out on a beautiful dish or an elegant shelf, or place them in a small nest made of natural branches. In addition, you can use napkins or a runner instead of a tablecloth, so that the texture of the wooden table supports the general natural theme, ”decorator Svetlana Buerakova recommends.
“Use symbolic accessories in the setting of the festive table, for example, Easter bunnies (a symbol of the holiday in some Western countries and the USA). It can be their figures, and dishes with their image, and even napkins with cute rabbits. Such accents will diversify the usual dinner and set all household members in a positive mood, ”says decorator Svetlana Buerakova.
She also offers to arrange on this day an unusual Easter entertainment called “Egg hunting” (from the English “search for an egg”), when decorated eggs are hidden in various corners of the apartment, and the cherished places are designated with a small statuette of a hare. This will turn the tradition of exchanging Easter gifts into a fun game.
