Earwax is a natural protective secretion and should not be removed under normal conditions.

Only accumulated wax plugs, usually swollen under the influence of moisture, close the lumen of the canal and cause hearing impairment. It is then necessary to rinse the ear with water at a temperature of approx. 37 ° C or with preparations specially designed for this purpose, available in pharmacies.

Note: You cannot rinse the ear with water after otitis with defects of the eardrum and after some ear operations.

Only specialists should rinse the ear in older people. There is a risk of the thin eardrum rupturing.
