Early pregnancy bleeding
The joy of waiting for a baby is sometimes clouded, pains and bleeding appear – these are alarming symptoms in early pregnancy. Normally, a woman should not have discharge from the vagina or uterus for the entire period of gestation.
The main causes of bleeding in the first trimester
Short term bleeding is a fairly common problem. They affect about a third of women. Some of them are harmless, others require immediate hospitalization. It is important for the expectant mother to know the main causes and possible consequences, this will help to take the necessary measures in a timely manner.
Knowing what causes bleeding during early pregnancy, you can get medical help in a timely manner.
Causes of bleeding:
- Implantation, sometimes a woman takes it for menstruation, but unlike her, it is weaker and lasts no more than 3 days. Usually occurs in the 2-3rd week. It is not dangerous and does not require special therapy.
- Risk of miscarriage. It starts with mild throbbing pains in the lower abdomen, then blood appears. It can be pinkish, spotting, or profuse, like during menstruation. If measures are taken in a timely manner, then the pregnancy can be saved.
- If the abdominal pain subsided, and the blood continues to come out, and clots are observed in it, then most likely a spontaneous abortion occurred. With such a problem, scraping may be necessary.
- A frozen pregnancy is characterized by bleeding, mild pain, and breast tenderness.
- Bleeding may not be related to pregnancy, but may be caused by an injury to the cervix, infection of the genital tract, erosion, and other causes.
First trimester bleeding does not always indicate a miscarriage or other serious problem. But this is an alarming symptom, carefully monitor your condition.
How to prevent bleeding in early pregnancy?
The onset of pregnancy is not only the most important, but also the most disturbing period. Almost all environmental factors affect the unborn baby until the placenta is formed. They can cause uterine bleeding and jeopardize the continued pregnancy.
Measures to reduce the likelihood of bleeding:
- Identify and treat all genital infections prior to pregnancy.
- Give up tobacco and alcohol at least 6 months before conception. The future father must do the same. Avoid smoky and gas-polluted places.
- Do not take any medication without consulting your doctor. If in doubt, it is better to see another specialist or to be treated with safe herbs.
- Eat a complete and balanced diet, take special vitamins, and drink clean water. Don’t go on a diet unless prescribed by a nutritionist.
- Walk in the fresh air as much as possible, move, do accessible sports. This will improve blood circulation and oxygenate the body.
These measures will reduce the risk of bleeding and problems with bearing a baby.
First trimester bleeding is a serious symptom that cannot be ignored. If it gets worse, pain and shortness of breath appear – do not wait, call an ambulance.
