Ammonium hydroxide (Ammonium hydroxide, ammonia water, ammonia alcohol, E527) is a weak base formed by the interaction of ammonia with water.
An aqueous solution of ammonia, in which it exists mainly in the form of ammonium hydroxide, is called ammonia water.
A 25% solution of ammonia is commercially available.
Ammonia water is used for the production of ammonium salts (nitrogen fertilizers), in the production of soda, dyes, etc.
A weak (usually 10%) solution is called ammonia.
Do not confuse ammonia (ammonium hydroxide) with ammonia (ammonium chloride).
