E510 Ammonium Chloride

Ammonium chloride (Ammonium chloride, ammonia, E510). The chemical formula is NH₄Cl.

Application:

• nitrogen fertilizer (up to 25 % N) for neutral and alkaline soils for crops that react poorly to excess chlorine (sugar beet, rice, corn);
• it is used for soldering to remove the oxide film from the surfaces;
• in electroplating cells;
• in medicine for edema of cardiac origin and to enhance the action of diuretics;
• as a smoke generator.

Do not confuse ammonia (ammonium chloride) with ammonia (ammonium hydroxide).
