E170 Calcium Carbonates (chalk)

Calcium carbonate (Calcium carbonate, chalk, calcium carbonate, calcium bicarbonate, chalk, E170) is a salt of carbonic acid, a white dye.

Varieties:

  • (i) Calcium Carbonate;
  • (ii) Calcium bicarbonate.

In nature, it occurs in the form of the minerals calcite, aragonite and vaterite. Calcium carbonate is the main constituent of limestone, chalk, and marble. It is used in almost all areas of industry, as well as in medicine.

Also, calcium carbonate is the most important component in the production of household chemicals-cleaning products for plumbing, shoe creams, and is also widely used in the production of personal hygiene products (for example, toothpaste).

Calcium carbonate is also widely used in cleaning systems, as a means of combating environmental pollution, with the help of calcium carbonate, the acid-base balance of the soil is restored.
