E153 Stone, charcoal

Coal (Charcoal, Carbon black, Vegetable carbon, E153) – black color dye. Usually obtained from burned plant material, but can also be of animal origin.

As a food dye, it is banned in the United States and other countries. E153 is included in the list of food additives allowed for use in the territory of our country.

Moderately toxic by ingestion, skin contact and inhalation, may be carcinogenic.

Possible food use: concentrated fruit juice, jams, jelly candies, licorice lollipops, confectionery. It can also be part of cosmetics.
