It can be used in the production of mint sauce, ice cream, various sweets, desserts and canned peas. The dye is also used in ophthalmology, for the diagnosis of various diseases of the surface of the eye.
Green S is banned as a dietary supplement in Canada, the United States, Japan and Norway, as its consumption can lead to allergic reactions. In some countries, this supplement is allowed. This is one of the supplements that is recommended to be excluded from the diet of children, in order to prevent a hyperactivity reaction.
