From December 1, 2018, doctors can only issue exemptions in electronic form (e-ZLA). This is a great convenience for patients. You are not obliged to provide the sick leave to your employer (if you are an employee) or to ZUS (if you run a business). However, you should notify your employer that you are going on leave.

How does e-exemption work?

When issuing an e-leave, the doctor must enter the patient’s PESEL number in the computer system. Other data (e.g. patient’s address, contribution payer) are automatically downloaded from the system. During a home visit, the doctor may issue an electronic certificate on his / her mobile device (e.g. tablet or laptop). It is enough for him to have access to the Internet. Importantly, the patient does not have to provide the employer’s tax identification number. The doctor has access to medical records, including dismissals and referrals, so he will check it quickly.

After filling in, the e-leave will be automatically sent and registered in the ZUS system. And the latter will send the relevant information to the employer within XNUMX hours. The patient no longer needs to provide a paper version. The employer will know how long the employee will be on sick leave. If there is a power cut or system problems occur, the doctor has the right to expose traditional, paper-based release and will send the information to ZUS.

Do you need a consultation with a specialist?

Are you sick? Do you want to get sick leave without leaving your home? Make an appointment with your doctor for a teleconsultation with e-release to get L4 even in 15 minutes. If you want to take advantage of quick and free consultations with a family doctor (e.g. regarding symptoms) at the National Health Fund, change the health care clinic to a telemedicine clinic via halodoctor.pl

Advantages of e-layoffs

E-release saves doctors a lot of time. Electronic leave is to make life easier for both patients and doctors, as well as employers and the Social Insurance Institution. They will speed up the process of admitting patients. Moreover queues at clinics will be reduced. The condition for the proper functioning of the e-leave system is the establishment by the employer of an account on the ZUS portal. The electronic release will go to the inbox on the payer’s profile and to the “Medical certificate” tab. The employer can later save the e-leave file on his data carrier.

E-leave and facilities for doctors

After introducing the e-leave system, the doctor no longer has to:

  1. download forms from ZUS,
  2. keep completed certificates,
  3. waste time delivering completed certificates.

The system will check the dates of the employee’s inability to work in accordance with applicable regulations. Will suggest a suitable one disease statistical number and a letter code from A to D. It will also make it easier to complete the rehabilitation application. In this way, it will improve the work of the doctor.

E-leave and benefits for the employer and employee

The employer may receive a notice of sick leave by e-mail or SMS. All you have to do is select this option in your profile. Importantly, there is no disease statistical number in the e-leave. This solution protects the privacy of the employee. The system will inform the doctor if the employer does not have a PUE profile. Then the patient will receive a paper-based release. You should then deliver it to your employer within 7 days. The printout of the electronic certificate should be signed and stamped by a doctor or medical assistant.

The doctor must print the sick note also when the patient requests it, regardless of whether the employer has a PUE profile or not. If the patient sets up an account with PUE ZUS for himself, he / she may also have access to the issued certificate.
