Duofilm – application, contraindications

What does Duofilm contain? What is its use and is it recommended for use by everyone? Duofilm is a liquid to be applied directly to the skin. The main ingredients of the preparation are lactic and salicylic acids. The fluid has a keratolytic effect, i.e. it softens and loosens the callous epidermis, which greatly facilitates its removal.

What is Duofilm used for? The main ingredients of the fluid are salicylic acid and lactic acid, it is a preparation for direct application to the skin. The main recommendation for using the liquid is to eliminate plantar warts and ordinary warts. How should the drug be applied and in what doses? Are there any specific contraindications to using Duofilm?

Duofilm – application

The preparation has an action aimed not only at exfoliation, but also preventing keratosis of the epidermis. Thanks to the action of two components, i.e. salicylic and lactic acid, Duofilm facilitates the removal of callous epidermis. The increased dose of duofilm has an antiseptic effect, it also works against viruses that cause the formation of normal and plantar warts. Both active substances of the preparation are suspended in an elastic collodion substrate, which makes the agent not only easy to apply, but above all, by creating a membrane, it moisturizes the tissue and causes faster absorption of both substances.

The application and its frequency should be agreed with the patient’s dermatologist, it is also worth reading the package leaflet before the first application. Duofilm is a preparation for external use only on the affected areas. Before application, the wart should be soaked in warm water for about 5 minutes, then dry with a towel. The nipple should be gently rubbed with a nail file or other instrument, but so as not to cause bleeding. The skin around the nipple must be protected with a layer of cream or petroleum jelly, with a higher dose of Duofilm may cause burns on healthy skin. After applying the preparation to the nipple, you can stick a plaster. Treatment depends on the size of the nipple, but the optimal time is 12 weeks, until the nipple has completely disappeared and the fingerprint is rebuilt.

Duofilm – contraindications

Duofilm can be used for 12 weeks, if the wart has not disappeared after this time, you should ask for a doctor’s consultation. It is not recommended to use the product on lesions larger than 5 cm. Duofilm should not be used by people who are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the ingredients of the preparation. The preparation should not be used in young children. Like any measure, it can have side effects. Redness, itching, peeling and dry skin, rash, burning sensation and burning sensation may appear in the area where Duofilm has been applied.

During pregnancy, no drug can be used without consulting a gynecologist, and this is also the case with Duofilm. It is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women as there are no studies confirming or excluding negative effects on the course of pregnancy. Application of the preparation must be carried out in accordance with the instructions contained in the package leaflet. Particular care should be taken when using medicinal preparations similar to Duofilm at the same time. The agent should not be used on the skin of the face or intimate places.
