Dryness, stickiness, pain: scientists named the 4 earliest signs of Alzheimer’s disease

According to recent studies, the main thing to take care of in order to protect yourself from the disease is the condition of the gums.

Early symptoms of the development of Alzheimer’s disease have long been known — forgetfulness, difficulty concentrating, confusion of words. But their presence indicates that the person is already sick. Is it possible to diagnose a disease many years before its development?

You can — thanks to a study conducted by a group of scientists from different countries. They followed the health of 26 people for XNUMX years and found that those with gum problems were more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease.

The fact is that the bacterium Porphyromonas gingivalis can live in our oral cavity. By combining with two other bacteria — Campylobacter rectus and Prevotella melaninogenica — it increases the risk of gum inflammation and infection in the bloodstream. And this can already lead to the development of Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia.

It turns out that in order to avoid the disease, you need to carefully monitor the sensations in the throat. And contact your doctor immediately if you experience the following symptoms:

  • Feeling persistent dry mouth even though you are drinking enough fluids

  • often suffer from sore throat

  • you feel an incomprehensible stickiness in your mouth

  • You begin to have difficulty chewing and swallowing food and liquids.

This certainly does not mean that any sore throat or toothache is an indicator that you may someday get Alzheimer’s. But it is better to remain vigilant and try to be one step ahead of the disease.
