Tired of drying clothes on the balcony, floor or hanging dryers? There are modern solutions: dryers. They come in two forms: tumble dryers and cabinets. Users are confident that both types cope with their functions. It remains to find out what suits you more: a drying cabinet or a clothes dryer.
Cabinet Features
They dry almost any thing from the wardrobe of an adult and a child, a sports and business person. Suitable for drying clothes and textiles. You can put clothes from any fabrics in them: both coarse and requiring delicate care; even handkerchiefs, scarves, gloves or boots.
All you need to do is hang things on hangers, put them on shelves and sections. After the user sets the appropriate drying program, choosing it according to the type of fabric and the degree of humidity, starts the cycle.
How the cabinet works: principle and device
The air streams are heated using a heating element built into the double bottom or into the upper part (ceiling) of the structure. Drying can take place both with natural convection and forced. For forced air circulation, a fan is installed inside the device.
The drying temperature can reach 80 degrees. Moisture evaporated from things is discharged through a specially provided sleeve into the ventilation duct. There are options when moisture enters the environment, but this is not very convenient – the humidity in the room rises, furniture becomes damp, interior items deteriorate, and there is a risk of mold. But if there is no other way out, it is worth providing good ventilation in such a room, ventilating it more often.
If we compare the cabinet with a drum-type dryer, then the processes in it are less intensive, because there is no rotation. It requires more time for one working cycle (1-6 hours) – the drum unit spends less time on the same drying, there are even express cycles for 20-30 minutes.
The main advantage: things hang motionless, when dried, they do not touch the details of the machine. This ensures that the fabric stays intact.
Processing takes place in a gentle mode – with high energy efficiency and low noise operation. One drawback, according to some users, is the impressive dimensions of such equipment.
A medium-sized wardrobe looks like a regular wardrobe, so for a small apartment it is not the best solution. But for those who live in a country house, this small nuance is not an obstacle to buying.
Drum dryers
If massiveness is not for you, pay attention to the drum-type apparatus. It is similar to an automatic washing machine, sometimes it looks like you can’t even tell it apart. Suitable for almost any apartment. There are models that can hold no more than 3 kg of laundry. To save usable space, you can install the appliance under or on a countertop, in a niche or hang it on a wall using brackets.
Often drum units are installed on top of washing machines, but then their dimensions must match. When planning for such an installation, choose an electrical appliance of the same brand as the CMA, preferably from the same series.
In the latest models, users are waiting for a lot of programs and additional functionality, not to mention the stylish cutting-edge design.
Thanks to all the above parameters and features, drum models of dryers have earned the recognition of users from the CIS countries more than cabinets.
The essence of drum technology
The drum drying method requires less time than alternative ones. But keep in mind that mechanical impact can disrupt the density and properties of fabrics, so not everything can be loaded into the drum. More options for those models that are additionally equipped with accessories: baskets for woolen products, shoe stands, etc.
Drum dryers are available in two variations – exhaust and condensation type, moisture is removed in different ways. Exhaust machines are freed from fumes from things through a hose connected to the ventilation. Condensation technology involves the conversion of moisture into condensate (water) and its discharge into a reservoir or directly into the sewerage system. If you choose a model with manual condensate extraction, you will have to empty the container of liquid after each cycle, but believe me, this will not take much time and effort. Owners of units that directly drain water into the sewer only need to clean the fluff filter, which is also quite easy.
Condensation machines are more expensive than their counterparts, but they have become favorites among Russian consumers. Pull-type machines are already obsolete.
Wardrobe vs car: which is better
When choosing appliances for the home, be guided by the fact that drum options work faster, save space, have a nice design, and are equipped with a ton of options and modes for drying various things. Dryers with a drum are suitable for those users who prioritize drying textiles and everyday linen: bathrobes, towels, bedding sets. Suits, coats, large blankets, shoes would be more convenient to dry in the closet. But there is a loophole here – machines with large drums and functions for drying business or outerwear, even shoes. What to choose already depends on your financial capabilities.
Cabinets also have such unshakable advantages:
- The operation of the equipment is almost silent.
- Low electricity costs (depending on the model, its parameters).
- Delicate processing.
If these criteria are not important to you, feel free to choose a machine with a drum. If energy efficiency, carefulness of the process and silence in the house are in the first place for you, take a closer look at the closet.
Speaking about the price of such household appliances, we note the following: among both types there are budget and premium models. If the question is “worth an edge” and drying things is a problem, it is definitely worth automating this process. The main thing is to choose a device that suits you in all respects.
