Dry skin: risk factors
These factors contribute to drying out the skin:
- Temperatures very cold because humidity is then rarer. Often, skin problems worsen during the winter;
- A climate chaud et dry. In desert regions where the very hot weather drops the humidity to less than 10%, the skin can dry out quickly;
- Le vent;
- Le sun. Source of heat, the sun dries the skin. The more you expose yourself to it, the more your skin dries up. Sun damage is not limited to drying out the surface layers of the skin. The sun’s rays (UVA and UVB) also contribute to the premature aging of the skin by affecting its structure. They can also cause skin cancer;
- Le heating houses in winter which reduces ambient humidity;
- The bains with hot water, especially if they are long and frequent. Hot water dissolves some of the fatty substances found on the surface of the skin;
- Frequent skin contact with know, household cleaning products, make-up products, perfume;
- Regular sessions of swimming, especially in highly chlorinated water;
- A consumption insufficient water or significant water loss which may occur, for example, as a result of severe diarrhea or intense and sustained physical exercise;
- THEalcohol, due to its diuretic effect (increases water elimination).
