Specific drugs for neurosis must be individually tailored to the problem of a given patient. There are many forms of this disease, so consult a psychiatrist or psychologist on this matter. You cannot act on your own or buy medications from untested sources. They can cause additional damage to the body without guaranteeing any tangible effect.
What to look for when using medications for neurosis?
First of all, it is necessary to distinguish between simple nervousness or stress resulting from a specific situation, and a chronic illness or disease. If specific symptoms pass quickly and do not provoke strong somatic reactions on the part of the body, you can choose the herbal option. Individual infusions and teas contain, among others:
- St. John’s wort,
- valerian root,
- linden inflorescence,
- rhizome of methistine pepper,
- hop cones,
- lemon balm leaf.
We recommend, for example, Calming down – a natural herbal mixture of Lorem Vit, which includes: lemon balm leaf, chamomile flower basket, narrow-leaved lavender flower, mountain rosary root.
However, when symptoms persist, seek medical attention. Disturbing signals can be:
- palpitations and pain behind the breastbone
- abdominal pain and nausea,
- strong and unjustified fear,
- shaking hands, strong sweating and insomnia,
- sudden panic attacks.
The psychiatrist will diagnose the type of the disease and select the appropriate drugs for neurosis, possibly also prescribing psychotherapy.
Drugs for neurosis – dosage
The effectiveness of drugs for neurosis must be based on an appropriate examination by a specialist. The type of disorder may have a different background, and the diagnosis will indicate the specificity of the disease. Basically, we divide it into:
- anxiety neurosis,
- heart neurosis,
- gastric neurosis,
- hypochondriacic neurosis,
- obsessive-compulsive disorder,
- all kinds of phobias.
The development of an effective therapy is based on a detailed interview with the patient. Be absolutely honest as only then can the treatment be fully effective. Basically, such drugs for neurosis are available only by prescription. Herbal preparations can only be used as a supplement. First of all, antidepressants, benzodiazepines, buspirone, hydroxyzine and neuroleptics are used. However, the selection of a specific preparation depends on many individual disease factors. The same applies to the dosage, which is determined by a psychiatrist and may sometimes differ from the standard recommendations of the preparation manufacturer.
Drugs for anxiety neurosis
Neurosis is an anxiety disorder that is one of the most common mental illnesses. Fighting it requires proper treatment and consistency in implementing the recommendations of a psychiatrist. In general, individual medications contain the following active substances, among others:
- alprazolam,
- citalopram,
- escitalopram,
- sertraline,
- vortioxetine,
- hydroxyzine,
- diazepam,
- venlafaxine,
- perazine.
Many anxiety medications are also used in depression and other mental disorders. All due to the universal use of the active substance, which only needs to be properly dosed. The method of its administration in a given period depends, for example, on the type of disease and its severity. The patient must therefore strictly follow the doctor’s instructions.
Drugs for neurosis – potential side effects
The patient is also informed about the potential side effects resulting from the use of the drug. Many of them are temporary and the disturbing symptoms disappear after some time. This is a sign that the drug is starting to work, so under no circumstances should you stop the therapy without consulting your doctor. Anyway, any changes in behavior or somatic reactions of the body must be reported in time. Among the specific examples of side effects when using medications for neurosis are:
- somnolence,
- fatigue,
- concentration disorders,
- muscle tremors
- transient, severe anxiety
- constipation
- difficulty urinating
- reduced appetite,
- stomach pain,
- weight gain,
- dry mouth
- increased sweating.
Of course, there may be more such symptoms, and their potential occurrence depends on taking a specific medicine.
