Drinking water is an effective way to combat obesity in children

American scientists have proven that there is a link between excess weight in children and regular fluid intake. Scientists presented a full report on the conducted research in the JAMA edition. According to his data, doctors examined 1200 schools in the country and all pupils of institutions. Eighth-graders and students in grades 1-5 were subjected to a special analysis. Based on their examination, the following conclusions were made: a lack of fluid in the bodies of children leads to the appearance of extra pounds.

This is not the main factor, doctors say, because of which students gain extra weight, but it is very important for health. The study was carried out as follows: scientists compared the weight of children who attended establishments with sources of drinking water and schools, in the premises of which there were no water dispensers. The difference in weight gain by schoolchildren in different institutions caught the eye of the scientist. In those schools where children were given free access to drinking water, there were fewer obese people. Why? According to team leader Brian Elbe, excess weight and dehydration are closely related.

Drinking enough water not only cleanses the child’s body of harmful microorganisms and toxins, but allows you to absorb nutrients from food well and fight obesity. No matter how useful water is, doctors remind, in addition to it, to maintain normal weight, you need to move as much as possible, be in the fresh air and eat fractionally, while giving preference to a “healthy” menu.
