A fragrant compote made from dried apples is available at any time of the year, but it is extremely useful in winter, when the body especially needs vitamins. The sweetness of apples can replace high-calorie sugar, so the dose can be reduced. Other fruits and spices will give the drink special, unique flavor nuances.

Dried apple compote with green tea recipe

To cook this dried apple compote, you will need: – 3 bags of green tea; – 6 glasses of water; – 2 tablespoons of sugar; – 2 teaspoons of fresh grated lemon zest; – 3 cups of dried apples.

Boil water in a saucepan. Place tea bags in boiling water and let them brew for 3-5 minutes. Remove green tea and add sugar and lemon zest, add dried apple slices. Turn on the heat and simmer the compote over low heat until the fruit is plump and tender, and the liquid is thick and golden. It will take about an hour and a half. Turn off the heat and refrigerate the compote.

Dried apples and pears compote with chamomile

For this compote, take: – 4 chamomile tea bags; – 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar; – 2 cups of dried apples; – 2 cups of dried pears; – 8 cups of water.

Chamomile tea helps with insomnia, soothes the nerves, aids digestion, and also acts as a prophylactic against kidney and gallstones.

Boil water, add sugar and wait until it dissolves. Place the tea bags in boiling water, cover and let sit for 15 minutes. Remove the bags and bring the water to a boil again. Add dried fruit, reduce heat to minimum and cook compote for about 1 hour. Serve chilled.

“Polish” compote from dried apples

In Poland, a compote made from dried apples and other dried fruits is served with ice on Christmas Eve. It is prepared a week before the holiday and stored in the refrigerator. To repeat this traditional recipe, you will need: – 300 g of dried apples; – 200 g of dried pears; – 100 g of prunes; – 100 g of figs; – 100 g of raisins; – 12 glasses of water; – 8 cloves; – 2 cinnamon sticks ; – 1 teaspoon of lemon zest; – 1 glass of sugar.

Pour water into a large high saucepan, add dried apples and pears, prunes, figs and raisins, bring to a boil and add sugar, add cloves and cinnamon, add lemon zest. Cover and simmer for about 40 minutes, stirring occasionally. Wait until the dried fruits are soft and the compote thickens a little. Chill the drink, pour into a container and store in the refrigerator for about a week. Remove the cinnamon and cloves from the compote before serving.
