Judging by the appeal of users to the Yandex search engine, the layout of dressing rooms measuring 2 x 1,5 meters (3 sq. Meters) is of greatest interest. In a specific case, consider the arrangement of a dressing room with a slightly shorter length – 1,83 meters. See drawings below for exact dimensions.
Preparation of premises
Before ordering furniture, it was necessary to prepare the former storage room for a dressing room.
Invite furniture makers to the final measurement only after the repair is completed! After plastering the walls, the internal dimensions of the room will change, and the furniture may simply not fit.
Photo before repair
Immediately notice that the door is not located in the center, but is significantly shifted to the left. The presence of a wide wall on the right side made it possible to later manufacture shelves 500 mm wide (see exact dimensions below).
Wallpaper and glue
I wanted to make repairs to the dressing room in such a way that I would not return to it longer.
Wallpaper requirements:
- Reliable – so as not to fumble with hangers, clothes and plastic containers.
- Light – to make it corny lighter.
- Washable – easy to wipe off in case of anything.
- Do not require alignment of the pattern when gluing.
The choice fell on the Belgian wallpaper Grandeco Life.
Glue was used for non-woven wallpaper.

It is intended for use in residential and public buildings with high operational loads: a corridor and a kitchen in an apartment, as well as in shops, schools, large offices, hospitals. Resistant to furniture on roller legs. Tone (hue) may vary from batch to batch.
Sketches and drawings with dimensions
Even before the dressing room renovation, the furniture makers sent four 3D sketches so that we could figure out what should be the result.
In the process of designing the dressing room, it was decided to install a lockable door on one of the compartments so that documents and medicines could be closed. Such a measure was required due to the fact that a person with dementia will live in the apartment. With this diagnosis, the tablets must be kept away. Such a measure will not be superfluous if the family has small children.
The first option seemed bad because the box is located too low: it is inconvenient to look for something in it, moreover, it will overlap with a large amount of outerwear.
The disadvantages of the second option are that when you open the door, the handle rests on the chest of drawers – there is a possibility of damage to the surface. Although it is located above the first, it is also low.
As a result, we decided to use the section located under the box at eye level (option 3).
Using the drawings with dimensions, you can adjust them to the exact dimensions of your dressing room. Everything should look harmonious if the length is about 2 meters and the width is about 1,5 meters.
Materials and prices
Below is the cost of manufacturing and installation of a dressing room made of laminated chipboard 16 and 25 mm and an edge thickness of 0.4 to 2 mm (prices at the beginning of 2021).

There was a desire to use a 25 mm thick board, but since it was not available, the dressing room was made of 16 mm thick white laminated chipboard with a 0.4 mm edge.
A few words about containers
It is convenient to store shoes and other things in separate boxes. Such boxes can be plastic containers of different capacities. Sometimes containers are looked after even before ordering a dressing room, so that the height of the shelves is made to fit their size. In this particular case, a container of the right size was purchased from a Fix Price store.
