Dressing room: how to store things in a closet, organizing space

Japanese woman Mari Kondo has been interested in the art of organizing space since childhood. For many years, she searched for the perfect cleaning method, tried all existing techniques and eventually invented a universal method herself. Now there is a queue for Marie. Clients are happy to let her into their homes in order to learn how to put things in order once and for all in one cleaning and no longer remember the chaos in the closets.

This petite girl “took away” all of Japan, and to convey her experience, she wrote a book “Magic cleaning”… Do you want your day to finally stop starting with “nothing to wear, nowhere to hang”? Follow the Mari Kondo method.

Quite often, people do not throw out their clothes that have lost their presentation. Yes, there are spools on it, puffs, this is not your color, style, but you can wear something! Where do these outfits go? In the section “clothes for the home”. Now think about whether you are doing the right thing. If the pants don’t go, putting them on, you’ve been thinking all the time about how they get fat, couldn’t relax, has it become more pleasant to wear them at home? Of course, no one sees how they add pounds to you. But is it really nice?

Such “outcast” items are not really home clothes. Our home time is a precious part of life, and its value should not be diminished by the fact that no one sees you. True waste is not throwing away the things you don’t like, but putting them on even when you are striving to create the perfect space for a comfortable lifestyle. By putting on the clothes you love, you yourself reinforce a positive self-image. And doing the opposite … In general, you get the idea. If a thing is not pleasant and does not bring joy, it has no place in the home wardrobe either. Feel free to throw it away and remember that in your apartment you should feel at your best, look in the mirror and like yourself.

Before proceeding closely to the revision of all cabinets, dressers and drawers, divide all clothes into several subcategories:

tops (shirts, sweaters, hoodies),

underwear (trousers, jeans, skirts, shorts),

things that need to be hung on a hanger (jackets, jackets),

socks,

Underwear,

handbags,

additional items (scarves, belts, hats),

special equipment (sportswear, swimwear),

footwear.

In each pile, collect all the objects of this type available at home, this is the only way you will appreciate the entire assortment. And then start cleaning your wardrobe from all that is superfluous and lying around. Take each sweater in your hands, touch, examine and ask yourself questions: “Does it make me happy? Do I want to wear it again? ” If not, do not hesitate, throw it away.

It is best to start cleaning the closet with things that are out of season, because if you put on a jacket yesterday, your hand will not rise to throw it away, it just recently warmed you!

Even after you have cleaned your wardrobe of unnecessary things, there is still a chance to look into the closet and not find anything on the hangers. Why? Because there are rules here as well.

Arrange all clothing so that it “rises” to the right. Mentally or on a piece of paper, draw an arrow pointing up and to the right. These lines create a sense of comfort. By using this principle when organizing your wardrobe, you can make your contents look much more inspiring.

To do this, hang heavy, thick fabrics, long, dark colors on the left side, and light ones, light, flowing, thin ones on the right. As you move towards the right side of the hanger space, the length of the garment decreases, the material becomes lighter, and the color becomes lighter. You yourself will be surprised how much more convenient and visually pleasing your wardrobe will become from such a simple technique.

There are two storage methods for clothes – hanging on a hanger or folding and storing in drawers. The first method is not able to compete with the second in terms of space saving. When folded, you can fit 20 to 40 items in the same area where 10 items were hanging.

The secret of the method is to store everything upright, and not in a recumbent position, but for this, clothes need to be made compact. Some people believe that the number of folds leads to more wrinkles on the fabric, this is not the case, pressure spoils things, that is, when they are in a pile. Your goal is to fold each item into a simple, smooth rectangle.

First, fold each side of the sweater towards the center and fold in the sleeves to create a rectangular shape.

Next, pick up one side of the rectangle and move it so that it matches the other side. Then fold again in half, three times. The number of “accordions” should be calculated so that the folded item, placed on the edge, does not exceed the height of the box.

Every home has a wardrobe, chest of drawers, or even a bag filled with socks, tights, and stockings. They lie tied up, lie tied in knots, or just randomly rammed on a shelf. Common situation? Then we hasten to fix it. Yes, socks are a trifle, but the very necessary thing that we need almost every day. They are consumables – they are torn once or twice. Have you ever wondered why they are so fragile?

The socks and tights stored in your dresser are essentially on vacation. They hit hard during daily work, they flatten between your foot and the insole of your shoe, withstand pressure and friction, protecting your feet. The time they spend in the box is their only chance of rest. But if they are tied into a knot, rolled into a ball, they are constantly in tension, the fabric is deformed, and the elastic threads are stretched. So never do that.

Lay the pantyhose on top of each other, fold in half lengthwise, then fold again, three times, making sure that the socks are inside, not outside, and the belt protrudes slightly from above. And then roll them into a cylinder towards the belt. If the girdle stays outside when you’re done, you’ve done everything right. Do the same with stockings and knee-highs.

It’s even easier to fold your socks. Lay one on top of the other and fold in half if the socks have a low side; fold socks to the ankle in three layers; to the knee – from four to six layers. Store your socks on one side, just like your clothes in a closet.

There is no need to purchase dividers or other tricky storage devices. The universal container at your fingertips is the shoe box. It has the perfect size, is durable and easy to use, and its range of applications is limitless.

The height of the shoe box is perfect for vertical storage of rolled tights, stockings, socks, scarves will get along in it. Also, the box may contain shampoos, cleaning products, tea towels, and baking dishes.

There is even a use for the lid of such a box – it can be used as a tray and put in a drawer of a kitchen cabinet in order to lay out spatulas, ladles and other utensils on top. So she will not roll with a crash on the shelves and get them dirty.

One of the hardest categories to clean are bags. They always take the best places in the closet and eat up all the space. But there is a way out of this situation.

By storing bags in each other, you will halve the space they take up and easily find the purse you need if you leave the handles hanging out. The main thing is to pick up bags of the same type. Sets should consist of bags made from a similar material, such as heavy leather or thick knitted fabric. Subdividing them by type and material means that every time you need a bag, you only need to take out one set.
