Dough for brushwood. Video recipe

There are quite a few options for the dough from which crispy brushwood is baked; each housewife has her own secrets, thanks to which it turns out to be tender and airy. For it, a batter and tough dough is used, for which special molds are not needed. Working with a tough dough is much easier, so this recipe is also suitable for a novice housewife.

What products are required for tough dough brushwood

To make dough for brushwood, you will need the following products: – 1,5 cups of wheat flour; – 2 eggs; – 2 tbsp. vodka or brandy; – ½ tsp salt; – ½ cup powdered sugar; – 2,5-3 cups of vegetable oil for frying.

Technique for making brushwood from tough dough

Sift the flour through a fine sieve. Break eggs into a large deep bowl, add salt and vodka. Start adding flour in small portions, stirring first with a fork and then with your hands. The dough should become elastic, smooth and not stick to your hands. Add flour if necessary. Wrap the dough in a plastic bag or plastic wrap and let it stand at room temperature for 30-40 minutes.

Place the dough on a large cutting board or on a clean, floured countertop. Roll out a very thin layer from it, the dough should be almost transparent – from such brushwood it will turn out to be really crispy. Cut the dough into strips about 3 cm wide, then cut them across so that each strip is approximately 8-10 cm long. Make a longitudinal cut along each strip, not reaching the edges, and thread one end of the strip into it.

Pour vegetable oil on the bottom of a cauldron or saucepan, heat it well over medium heat. This may take 20-25 minutes. Make a test: dip a piece of dough in the butter, if it is covered with bubbles and turns golden brown – you can fry the rest of the brush. Throw each strip separately into the heated oil and keep it in it until the dough turns a beautiful golden color.

Spread the prepared brushwood on paper kitchen towels to remove any excess oil, then transfer to a dish, sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.

Technique for preparing brushwood from batter

If you have special molds-attachments that screw on a long handle, you can bake curly brushwood from batter. To prepare it, you will need: – 1 glass of wheat flour; – 1 egg; – 2 tbsp. vodka; – 1 tbsp. granulated sugar; – 1 glass of boiled water; – ¼ tsp. soda; – vanilla on the tip of a knife; – salt.

Beat the egg in a deep bowl, add salt, soda, sugar, vanilla and vodka, pour half of the water and stir everything. Add flour, start stirring, breaking lumps. When they are gone, pour the rest of the water into the dough, mix everything well.

Heat vegetable oil in a cauldron, prepare a mold. Heat it in oil, then dip it 2/3 into the dough and dip it again in the oil. When the dough is golden, holding the dish over the plate, pry it slightly with the tip of a knife – the dough will easily separate from it.
