Adepts of proper nutrition from all sides put pressure on us with authoritative opinions about the advisability of using certain drinks, and offer alternatives. But in fact, are they so harmless and can they be introduced into your diet?
Almond milk
Almond milk displaced cow milk and took the leading position among the alternatives to the latter. It is actually delicious and suitable for anyone who cannot digest lactose. But the benefits and content of nutrients in it are greatly exaggerated. Only 2 percent of almonds get into milk, and therefore there are very few vitamins and healthy fats.
Instead, producers are lavishly supplying almond milk with sugar, fooling the slimming crowd. Do not overuse the drink, but rather eat a handful of healthy almonds.
Low-calorie drinks
Pepsi without sugar and extra calories? Drink as much as you like, because there is practically no threat to the figure. But if you look at it, the insidiousness of such drinks lies in the fact that the deceived body, in response to low calories and a small amount of carbohydrates, reacts not with weight loss, but with even greater hunger and fat reserves – suddenly they will not give it any more?
Do not try to deceive nature once again and make it a habit to quench your thirst with lemon water.
Sports drinks
Sports drinks are designed to quickly restore fluid loss in the body and provide fuel for continued intense exercise. Therefore, there is as much sugar in the composition of such drinks as in sweet carbonated drinks, which you just replaced with low-calorie ones.
If you are not a practicing athlete, do not prepare for competitions and do not train people every day, then you do not need such drinks. Drink plain water.
Coffee drinks
It is not known who came up with this “ingenious” idea to replace a full meal with a coffee drink, such as a glass of latte or a cup of cappuccino. Yes, the calorie content of such a drink is high due to the large amount of additives, sugar and syrups, but it will not give a feeling of satiety. Moreover, after an hour the caffeine energy will subside, and the body will again require replenishment.
Drink regular black coffee and eat as balanced and complete as possible.
Fresh Juice
Self-squeezed juice is useful and does not threaten your figure if you do not abuse it. But the canned packaged juices sold in our stores have nothing to do with proper nutrition. Preservatives, sugar, and flavorings will do more harm than good.
Much healthier than smoothies, because in addition to vitamins, it is rich in fiber, which is necessary for good bowel function. And it is even more useful to chew vegetables and fruits on your own, giving the right load to our teeth.
Vitamin water
Water enriched with the periodic table, undoubtedly, could be useful, if not for one BUT: sugar. Surely the consumer would not believe the “empty” water, and therefore the manufacturer made it tasty.
Pharmacy vitamins, washed down with a glass of ordinary water, in this case will be much more useful – so give preference to this duet. And don’t forget to replenish your vitamin stores with seasonal vegetables and fruits.
