Dopegyt is a centrally acting antihypertensive drug available only on prescription. The main substance in the drug is methyldopa, which lowers blood pressure. Dopegyt is the drug of first choice in the treatment of hypertension in pregnancy.
The active substance of the drug Dopegyt
Lek Dopegyt is produced by the Hungarian company EGIS Pharmaceuticals PLC in the form of white, flat tablets, which are in a glass bottle in the number of 50 pieces. Each tablet contains 250 mg of methyldopa and ethylcellulose N-100, magnesium stearate, maize starch, stearic acid, talc, sodium carboxymethyl starch type A. The main active substance of the drug Dopegyt jest methyldopa. It acts centrally by reducing the tone of the sympathetic system, reducing plasma renin activity and peripheral vascular resistance, and reducing the synthesis of norepinephrine, dopamine, serotonin, and the concentration of norepinephrine and adrenaline in tissues. The maximum effect of the substance occurs after 4-6 hours and lasts for about 12-24 hours.
Application and dosage of the drug Dopegyt
Application of the drug Dopegyt aims at low blood pressure. Always take the drug use according to the doctor’s recommendations, and any doubts should be consulted with a doctor or pharmacist. Recommended dosage prepared Dopegyt for adults it is: in the first two days it is 250 mg of the drug, 2 to 3 times a day. In the elderly dose should be as small as possible. However, in the case of children dosage the initial dose is 10 mg of the drug per 1 kg of body weight, administered in 2-4 portions. Your doctor may increase or decrease gradually dosage drug. The tablets can be taken both before and after meals. Please note that consumption should be avoided during the treatment period alcoholic beverages. If the benefits of application are greater than the risk your doctor may recommend use preparation for pregnant women. The active substance may pass into breast milk, therefore it should be avoided during breastfeeding application drug, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.
Dopegyt – side effects and side effects
It is forbidden use place Dopegyt if you are allergic or hypersensitive to any of the drug substances or if you suffer from ailments such as liver disease, depression or phaeochromocytoma. Even if a person has had liver or metabolic disease in the past, they must notify their physician. You shouldn’t accept prepared Dopegyt while taking certain medications, for example from the group of MAO inhibitors. It should be remembered that taking any drug can trigger side effectshowever, not every person may experience them.
In the case of the drug Dopegyt side effects may be: drowsiness, pale skin, weakness, fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, mouth ulcers, yellowing of the skin and eyes, dark urine, chest pain, shortness of breath, blisters on the skin. Occasionally, during treatment, a hematopoiesis disorder may occur, i.e. a decrease in the number of white blood cells and platelets, swelling and weight loss (most often reversible after administration of diuretics).
