Doormat

The days of old shirts, T-shirts and trousers, which, due to their dilapidation, were used for the needs of the owner, are over. In any store you can find a dozen different types of floor rags. They perfectly collect dust and dirt, absorb water, wring out very easily, do not leave lint and streaks, and serve for a long time. It is worth trying one of them in action – and you will definitely not want to return to household rags.

Rags and floor wipes can be made from 100% cotton, rayon, cellulose, a combination of natural and synthetic fibers, as well as polyester and nonwovens. In addition, there is a mysterious Microfiber. But first things first.

Cotton (and its blends)

The best choice for those who love thoroughness in everything and prefer long and high-quality floor cleaning to light wet cleaning. In terms of its ability to absorb and retain moisture, cotton will outperform most synthetic and natural fibers. But according to the ability to clean the surface, artificial fabrics come first. Therefore, pay attention to those rags in which, in addition to cotton, polyester is present.

A microfiber cloth is the best for dealing with spilled liquid.

Viscose (and blends thereof)

Viscose absorbs and retains moisture well. However, when wet, this natural material loses its strength, it does not like hot water and twisting. That is why synthetic fibers are often added to viscose – in combination with polyester, a viscose rag absorbs water well from the surface to be cleaned and wipes it dry without leaving streaks, which makes it indispensable for cleaning floors of any type, especially wooden and laminate.

Cellulose

The presence of cellulose in the rag increases its absorbency.

Polyester

Synthetics copes with dirt better than natural materials. Such rags are durable, dry quickly, for which all kinds bacteria they are not liked. The addition of polyester to natural cotton or rayon prolongs the life of the rag and improves its detergency.

Cleaning a doormat

  • Always rinse after use.
  • Be sure to dry it dry.
  • Machine washable at 30-60 ° C.
  • Can be disinfected

Microfiber (microfiber)

Microfiber is a new generation material consisting of the finest (microscopic) fibers. These can be fibers of cotton, polyester, viscose, etc. Such microfibers are able to penetrate even the smallest crevices and remove dirt from there. Therefore, microfiber cloths are ideal for rough floors, surfaces with unevenness or imperfections.

In addition, these rags are highly absorbent and durable. Microfiber will withstand 500 cleanings, while a regular old T-shirt will become unusable after 10–20 uses.

The microfiber will easily pick up spilled liquid from the floor, deal with dust (suitable for dry cleaning) and dirt. In this case, the cloth should be only slightly damp (not wet!).
