Striking data was obtained by psychologists from the University of Tilburg and doctors from the St. Elisabeth Clinic (Netherlands), headed by Professor Van der Steeg*. For six months, women diagnosed with breast cancer and patients with benign tumors regularly underwent psychological testing to assess their subjective sense of quality of life. It turned out that satisfaction with life practically does not depend on the severity and duration of the disease, but is largely associated with character traits and, above all, with personal anxiety. In a third of cases, it was this feature that worsened the perception of life.
